Global Box Office 2023: Gower Street Analytics now estimates 2023 Global box office hit $33.9 billion through December 31. This represented a +30.5% gain on 2022, continuing global box office recovery. However, it remains -15% behind the average of the last three pre-pandemic years (2017-2019). I’ve spent years working in open-plan offices, learning the invaluable skill of working in chaos. (More on that chaos and the one sentence a newspaper editor said to me in six months of working for him in my latest blog post: https://buff.ly/4gvFGSO) Even when I had my own corner (yet windowless) office as an Acting Editor, it wasn’t the right fit - I missed the chaos. Then I made the move to self-employment and carved an office out of an entertainment area in our home. Eight years later, I’ve made the move to a new space - a quiet bedroom conversion that I was initially hesitant about (because… all that quiet). But it's been a game-changer. Having my own space with a door I can close at the end of the day somehow makes my business more real to me. I guess it’s the freedom to choose how and where I work that’s key here.
