There's a lot of chat on Facebook Scotch Whisky Groups about 'Inaugural Releases'. A 'certain New Distillery', quite close to me, has just released one, this week.
The global 'bearderati' are 'coming over all unnecessary', about this launch, claiming it's 'too expensive to drink'.
Erm...yes. The whole POINT of new Scotch Whisky releases is that people want to collect them?
For instance, a few years ago, a bloke gave me a bottle of Kilchoman Inaugural Scotch, which I sold, when I was ill, for 'rather a lot', as everyone now collects them!
That's the point, of COURSE they are more expensive. Collectors like them. There are now rather a lot of Scotch Whisky Collectors in the World. So, you could argue, the Inaugural Bottlings should be EVEN MORE expensive!
I've argued for YEARS that good Scotch Whisky is WAYYY too cheap, thank goodness, it's not getting realistic.
If you DO want to taste new stuff, if you drink Scotch (a mad idea, I know) wait a fortnight, or go to the Supermarket and pick up a perfectly respectable, Branded Scotch for £20!
P. S. Did you get a bottle of Perfume or After Shave, this Christmas? How much was it for just 100 ml?
