“What are our competitors doing?” If you work in marketing, you’ve probably been asked this question from your team/client at least once. Competitor research can be a great way to uncover new insights or opportunities for your brand, and there are plenty of paid media tools to see competitors’ ads now. However, mirroring a competitors ads or tactics just because they’re a player in the industry may not always be wise. Your competitor’s business may be different in terms of their lead flow, sales process, marketing materials, etc.. so their marketing efforts might not make sense for your brand. Additionally, just because a competitor is doing something, that doesn’t mean they’re doing it well.
