Well-designed digital public infrastructure (DPI) offers a route to resilience for billions of people around the world. India, Brazil, Estonia ,Peru, Singapore have embraced the DPI approach with remarkable results. Digital IDs, interoperable digital payments, and data exchange protocols are the key components of DPI for financial inclusion. These components can result in improved access, affordability, and innovation. DPI succeeds when tech seamlessly scales, backed by smart policies. For low-income, high-population nations, DPI can be the digital transformation catalyst. Plus, it can guard against monopolies and give power to the people. A new report published by India’s #G20 Task Force on DPI provides a roadmap for adoption of DPI across countries and sectors. The G20 task force recommends a DPI approach to adoption of artificial intelligence (AI). This would include publication of open datasets via open API to train AI and machine learning models, creation of reusable toolkits for data tagging and curation tools, publication of open models to foster innovation in AI. For AI to serve the interests of customers, its important to train these models on data of all segments of customers including from low-income and marginalized categories. Check out our latest video snippet from the "Is 2024 the Year of the AI-Centric Telco?" event, hosted by GSMA at MWC Barcelona 2024. The event was moderated by Mojca Cargo with panel members, Dr Khalid Basit from TIAC - Telecom Intelligent Automation Council, Dr. Richard Benjamins from Telefónica, David Carmona from Microsoft, and Tor Indstøy, Telenor. In this clip, Mojca from GSMA asked Dr. Basit to give his views on the topic of upskilling and reskilling in light of #AI implementation within #telecommunication organizations. The focus of this question was related to, AI in the emerging economies of the world. Why do we need to have this discussion? It's important to think about the implications of AI implementation in all economies and while organizations in the developed world will always have unfair advantages, Dr Basit presents some solutions to address this imbalance. How can we move ahead with the points mentioned? Dr. Basit explains how the C-suite should think more about how their teams can use #AI for better functioning and less attrition. Also, he tackles the natural fears about spending on technology when there is an abundance of cheaper labor. How do we reduce the C-suites fears about investments with a narrow focus on #ROI? Dr Basit also looks ahead with a vision for shared learnings, and the possibilities of establishing AI centric incubation centers, led by #GSMA. This perspective will lead to a meaningful dialogue for those guiding their organizations through technological evolution and cultural #transformation. Stay tuned for more insights as we continue to explore the intersections of AI and leadership with top industry experts. Join TIAC today. https://tiac.ai/jointiac/
