The importance of a good educational start...
🦆 Duck walks are one of many traditions for our Cambridge Colleges every spring! 🚣 Generations of ducks have nested within Colleges since at least the 1960s and probably well before, and there is a great tradition of our porters helping them safely to the River Cam. 🎩 This week, the team at Corpus Christi College Cambridge found a mother duck incubating her eggs underneath a shrub in Old Court. It fell to veteran porter Lee Peters to start them on their journey to the river. 🚦 Porters held back traffic on Trumpington Street so the procession could cross over to St Catharine's College Cambridge, where their porters opened the front gates and gave them permission to cut across the grass. 🦆 Finally, they hopped up the stairs into Queens' College, Cambridge, through two courtyards, across the Mathematical Bridge and finally dove into the River Cam for their first swim as a family. #UniversityOfCambridge #CambridgeUniversity #Cambridge #Ducks #Ducklings #Nature

🏈 Mid-October Brings Crucial College Football Matchups! 🏈 As the college football season reaches a critical juncture, playoff hopes hang in the balance for many teams. This week, the SEC features two must-watch matchups: 🔹 5th-ranked Georgia makes its long-awaited return to Austin, facing top-ranked Texas for the first time in 66 years. Texas enters as a 5-point favorite, marking the first time the Dawgs have been underdogs since 2021. This game serves as a litmus test for both programs! We wrote about Texas last week and Georgia the week before, so take a look at our website and read those reports. 🔹 7th-ranked Alabama travels to Knoxville to take on 11th-ranked Tennessee. After a tough loss to Vanderbilt, Alabama is a 3-point favorite, but the stakes are high: the loser may be eliminated from at-large playoff consideration. In addition to these SEC battles, we’ll also see 12th-ranked Notre Dame face off against a resurgent Georgia Tech team, alongside key Big Ten matchups featuring Nebraska and 16th-ranked Indiana, as well as 2nd-ranked Oregon visiting Purdue. 🌟 Spotlight on the Southern Ivies 🌟 Our weekly feature delves into the storied football histories of two Southern Ivy League schools: Rice University and Tulane University. From Tulane’s establishment in 1893 to Rice’s golden years in the late 1950s, these programs have had a significant impact on the evolution of college football in the South. With Rice’s recent focus on enhancing its recruiting and joining the American Athletic Conference in 2023, and Tulane’s efforts to build on its recent success, both programs are striving to reshape their futures. Tulane is undefeated in the AAC, while Rice boasts one of the nation's toughest defenses. 📊 Read more about these crucial matchups and the histories of Rice and Tulane football in our latest report! #CollegeFootball #SECMatchups #RiceUniversity #TulaneUniversity #AmericanAthleticConference #FootballHistory https://lnkd.in/edeqHKxA
