So, I did a thing and was off grid for slightly over a week to embark on a 36 mile expedition (51 miles if the side quest excursions are counted) through Yellowstone National Park. While it will take me a few weeks to fully decompress, reflect and unpack my learnings, here's a few standout takeaways I gained: 1. Trust your gut; know your boundaries; and get in tune with how far you're willing to press your limitations to work through discomfort. 2. Those who are constantly the loudest in a space in an attempt to project their "leadership" will often be what cracks the armor of psychological safety. (Shout out to the Core Values of Shear Team Connections.) 3. It's hard as hell to cultivate a space of inclusion without first identifying barriers and a plan to truly reduce them. 4. Sometimes self-advocacy is gonna make other people uncomfortable if they're used to a version of you that's quiet, bubbly, nice, etc. That's okay, though. Invite others to sit in the discomfort that they've created for you... respectfully.
