We have recently unveiled brand new artwork at Luton station, thanks to our partnership with Network Rail and local artist, Aimi Rix. The new display is made up of 15 pieces of art, covering themes including nature, the railway and local Luton landmarks, with particular emphasis on the people of Luton. The murals are displayed throughout the station and have been designed in bright, striking colours, celebrating the history of Luton. Read more: https://lnkd.in/evG-7fDH #StationArt #murals #Luton

The British Museum should be ashamed of themselves. Is there no #security there at all? "Of the 2,000 pieces, nearly 500 were damaged, but not stolen. Of these, 350 had elements stolen, particularly #gold mounts. This gold has almost certainly been melted down for scrap. A further 140 were damaged by tool marks in unsuccessful attempts to remove valuable parts. This leaves 1,500 complete items which were #stolen. Of these, 351 have now been recovered from #Denmark, 290 via the #Thorvaldsens #Museum and 61 direct from #Gradel. The BM has also recovered six items from other sources. In addition, the location of a further 300 #objects has been established." #britishmuseum #artist #creativity #arthistory #heritagetreasures #heritagebuilding #heritagetourism #heritageconservation #culture #culturalheritage #societyandculture #england #restitution #restitutionlaw #artcollector #contemporaryart #theft #criminallaw #ruleoflaw #policeinvestigation #localpeople #criminaljusticesystem #lawyers #lawyerlife #law #legaladvice #donations #fundraisingcampaign #securitysystem #alarm #accountability #integrity #integritymatters #standards #standardsmatter #change #customerexperience https://lnkd.in/dNB-e6aX

I am donating my art to help raise money and awareness for the Casper Mountain Preservation Alliance. We will be raffling off my bronze sculpture ‘’COWBOY CODE’’ 19’’ x 10’’ price $3500. This sculpture is very appropriate as a symbol of our struggle to keep gravel mining off Casper Mountain. Tickets are $20. each or 6 for $100. and 100% of the funds are going to our legal fund. If you want to help, please buy some tickets it is for a good cause and you might win a Navarro bronze sculpture. Wyoming is known as the Cowboy State and respectable men and women who lived in the West were bound by unwritten rules that centered on hospitality, fair play, loyalty, and respect for the land. There was no law on the range back in the days when the cowman with his herds carved out a new frontier. Lack of written law made it necessary to develop a rule of behavior, which became known as the "Code of the West." These laws were a socially agreed upon code of conduct that helped shape the cowboy culture of the Old West and were respected everywhere on the range. The sculpture’s forward-facing horses symbolize the future and what lies ahead. Both standing still express the present. The cowboy turning in the saddle, looking back over the trail, represents the past. The brand in the middle of the base stands for the mark and pride he puts on the work he finishes. Surrounding the base are some of the Cowboys Codes of the West. You cannot go wrong practicing these principles in your own life: 1. Ride for the brand. 2. Your word is your bond. 3. Be tough but fair. 4. Do what has to be done. 5. Protect and help the weak. 6. Always finish what you start. 7. Take pride in your work. 8. Live each day with courage.

Bidding for Change: How we hope that the beauty of art can help to improve the world. Climate change is indisputable and continues to progress at an alarming rate. The lungs of our Earth, our vast seas, are deflating under the pressure of human-created exhaust, emissions, and pollution. One of the greatest writers of our time, Fyodor Dostoevsky, said "Beauty will save the world." And I want to believe this is true. That we will comprehend and appreciate the finiteness of our world, our resources, and the nature that we share. The beauty of art will now take centre stage in our next major project with Artscapy. Next week, we are co-hosting a charity auction in Sardinia, Italy, where a part of each winning bid will be donated directly to marine preservation. I am proud and honoured that we are part of this initiative and hope that bidders will see how the beauty of art can help to save the world. The news about our initiative is starting to circulate, and you can find more information in the press - for instance here: https://lnkd.in/g4MZm8D5 Although the live auction is closed-door, let me know if you too want to support our initiative by placing an absentee bid ahead of the auction next week on the 27th of July. You may reach out to me, Alessandro, Vanessa, Christopher, or Daniela, who can share more information and access to the catalogue. #ArtforClimate #BidforChange #Artcollecting #ClimateAction #Alternativeinvestments

My Glossy Friends Gloss. I do not use much of it. The real world is not glossy very often. The real world is mostly semi-gloss, or unfortunately sometimes it has a matte finish. Neither is the real world smooth. When I look for wood for my wood sculptures, I try to avoid the smooth wood. I look for scraps of wood, down in the dirt of the mill, sometimes in a special pile that is going to be thrown away soon, because no one wants that stuff. I like my wood to have bark. I like my wood to have saw marks showing where it was ripped from a larger plank. I like my wood rough; rough enough to cause a splinter in my finger, because sometimes life, in its generous way, gives me a splinter just to keep me awake. When I lay out the sculpture, I try to align the image so that it is straight and parallel, because in life, I am trying to do the same thing. I rarely go beyond a very coarse sandpaper, sometimes not using sandpaper at all. Life is not smooth. Soon, once again, I will have the distinct privilege of riding my strange looking recumbent cycle alongside some of the bravest, strongest, most human human-beings I know. Some are paraplegics, some are quadriplegics. Some have serious pain that does not show at all, until, unfortunately, it is too late. We will ride 180 miles in an effort to accomplish goals that as individuals, we might not be able to attain. We work together. We ride together. We celebrate together. My friends and I have edges and ridges that have not been smoothed, although with time, the rough spots are getting rounded. We have “saw marks” that show where some of us were ripped from the life we were enjoying before, by an accident, by disease, by military conflict protecting the rights and privileges that the rest of us so often take for granted, and, unfortunately, those afflicted just by being born, like my grandson, Aaron. Beware, if we are ruffled, you might earn a splinter or two from us, just to keep you awake. Our leader, Jennifer Moore, does not see the sharp edges. Jennifer does not see the jagged, bumpy, dinged and dented rough spots. She is not afraid of splinters. Jennifer sees potential, she sees physical, mental, and emotional growth opportunities. Jennifer does not seem to be aware of the matte finish. So, when I make the wood sculptures, the background, the “frame” of the piece, the part that represents the world, is often finished with “satin” or “matte” polyurethane. My handcycle friends however, are finished in gloss. Please help us help others; please, today, help us bring new opportunities to my “glossy” friends. Any amount will be greatly appreciated.
