A few sobering stats from the "Household Food Insecurity in Canada, 2022"◽ report: ◾ 22.9% of households in Newfoundland and Labrador experienced some degree of food insecurity in the previous 12 months, amounting to 116,000 people. ◾ This is the highest rate in any of the ten provinces in Canada. ◾ 28.8% of children under 18 in Newfoundland and Labrador lived in food-insecure households. Since 2022, NLCU has held its annual NLCU Fall Food Drive to help support individuals and families in Newfoundland and Labrador who experience food insecurity to get the nourishment they need. Please donate if you can. Between now and October 31, drop by your local NLCU branch to make a donation. ------ ◽ Li T, Fafard St-Germain AA, Tarasuk V. (2023) Household food insecurity in Canada, 2022. Toronto: Research to identify policy options to reduce food insecurity (PROOF). Retrieved from https://proof.utoronto.ca/
This fall, from September 3rd to October 31st, we will be accepting donations for our Fall Food Drive at all 12 NLCU locations across the province. Together, let's make a difference in our community by giving generously and showing compassion to those who need it most. To find a branch near you, visit nlcu.com #NLCUCares #FallFoodDrive

Local toy drives have a special place in our hearts because they directly impact the lives of children in our very own community. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, can make a world of difference to a child who may otherwise go without a gift during the holidays. By donating to local drives, you're not only spreading joy but also fostering a sense of togetherness and compassion. Where can you donate? Big Brothers and Big Sisters of RI: This local organization collects clothing and soft fabrics for children in need and distributes them to families within the community. You can donate to their bins at the VFW as well as the Cup Defenders on Wood St. Bristol Police Department: They often host a holiday toy drive, and donations can be dropped off at their headquarters. Local Churches: Many churches in Bristol actively participate in toy drives during the holiday season. Check with your local parish to see if they have a collection. Schools and Community Centers: Keep an eye out for toy collection bins at your local schools or community centers. If we can become aware of others and what the community is hosting this holiday season, one purchase, one drive, one thought can directly impact someone else this holiday season for the better. This is your Daily Dose of the day! #MondayMotivation #Donations #HolidaySeason #BristolRI #RhodeIsland #DailyDoseofBristolRI

Crisis, such as the tragic fires in and around Ruidoso, reveal the character of people and businesses. Such as the extreme leadership of MATI’s Godfrey Enjady working tirelessly with friends, such as PVT’s James Meyers, to restore vital communications within and outside of their own service areas. Or the local businesses working together to meet the needs of those impacted. Local businesses matter and will be there when needed. I so appreciate the efforts of PVT’s employees organizing this effort to bring supplies to those in need. Chris & Tabitha Davis , Cassie Florez , Daniel Rodriguez, SHRM-CP and Ross Horner.
PVT would like to thank people in our communities for dropping off donations, and special thanks to Oasis Christian Fellowship in Carlsbad. Last night, PVT employees delivered the first truckload to the Mescalero Community Center. Two more truckloads to follow.
