Suppose your agency previously used a guard tour system before upgrading to an advanced inmate tracking technology system. In that case, you may be wondering: Can I mount Hard Tags where the iButtons were once located? 🤔 The answer is: sometimes Yes, and sometimes No. How is that possible? Take your basic security check one step further and use word blocks to note body position and sign of life for high risk inmates
Logging inmate observations should be fast and straightforward. ✅ However, manual methods make it time-consuming and challenging to translate - especially with messy handwriting. ✍ 🤨 When it comes to adequately documenting inmate activities and behaviors, you need to have a system that you trust to capture all relevant data and information. Luckily, GUARDIAN RFID can do just that with WordBlocks. 🤳 Check out the blog below to learn how it all works. ⬇️ #OneTeamOneMission

With the Guard1 mobile inmate tracking system, officers see a real-time task list of all of the checks and activities that need to be completed on a mobile device. Officers use the mobile device as a digital logbook to electronically log things like: - Wellness Checks - Special Watch Checks - Security Rounds - Notes and Observations - Headcounts - Inmate Movement - Programming - Meal, Med, Razor Pass, and Refusal These provide defensible rounds for inspections or incidents. GPS monitoring is one option in the toolbox. This isn’t expected to be an end-solution, so not sure what the analysis was trying to get at. Also, the comparison between a bail condition and prevention processes are 🍎 and 🍊. You can do both, however. Police already get called to these type of breach complaints and instead of going and watch video from several locations, can just check the GPS history for example. Helps cut down on the investigative load. Sounds like it may help save time…to respond to those other calls. Bail and justice reform are still needed. Separate issue altogether. #bailreform #justicetrform #conditons #communitysafety #frontlines #experience https://lnkd.in/gyA92wWC

Rachel and Roberto Santos have a good example of addressing short term, near repeat serial crimes, such as car larcenies and burglaries that crime analysts can be instrumental in implementing. Their approach is to define a rule, such as 3 events happening in a particular space-time window, and then have that be an identified "micro" hot spot. That micro area then gets extra patrols. https://lnkd.in/edsUsh4Q The Santos' have found that approach reduces near repeats by around 20% in the following weeks in several different cities. #crimeanalysis #hotspots #serialoffending

My latest for Police1: Six major crimes that started in cities, and ended when they migrated to the places I write about- the plains, parks, mountains and farms where "nothing ever happens". When I started working on this, I kept having to strike incidents because it turned out that many incidents I *thought* started in urban areas really started in the country and ended there, too: cartel hits, intra-familial massacres and more. In fact, there were so many that it will probably be too much for another article and may turn into a small series instead. (Heads up, Nancy Perry 😅 ) That's why I write about rural policing and why I use the hashtag #mayberrysamyth. If policing is to come into its own nationwide as a profession, then all officers - ALL officers, no matter where they work- must be trained, equipped and staffed to a modern and appropriate standard. It's not your granddaddy's small town anymore. Maybe it never was. #lawenforcement #policing #rural #reform #crime #workplaceculture #workplacesafety #officersafety
