Lets know about Walter Thiel’s Embalming Method. Embalming is the treatment of a dead body so as to sterilize it or to protect it from decay. The aim to preserve the body has existed since ancient times. With the beginning of human body studies and although religious rites remained in place, the need arose to preserve cadavers for prolonged periods of time. Several centuries passed until the discovery of formaldehyde (18th century), which has been the fixative par excellence until today. However, its toxicity and its use which results in increased cadaver stiffness and tissue darkening makes dissection and the practice of surgical techniques on the cadaver difficult. Walter Thiel developed the method that enables preservation of the body in 1992. His fixation method involves preserving the body with natural colors through intravascular injection of a solution and subsequent immersion in a second solution for a determined amount of time, allowing the cadaver to be stored in a sealed container outside the tank without preservation fluid. This method of handling the cadaver is more efficient and convenient and lacks toxic or irritating gases due to the minimum formaldehyde concentrations used in the formula. A man whose skin is forever blue 🔵 This is the reason behind silver deposition in the skin:   While it might sound like something out of a fairytale, a rare condition can cause a person's skin to develop a striking blue-gray hue.   -> This condition is called Argyria and it results from excessive exposure to silver.   Argyria typically develops when someone is exposed to silver in forms like silver nitrate, colloidal silver solutions, or silver salts, often for long durations or in high doses.   In the case of the famous “Blue Man,” the condition arose from the ingestion and topical application of colloidal silver after he began using the solution to avoid dry and flaky skin.   🔹 Over time, the silver particles accumulated in his skin, turning it a blue-gray color.   When these silver particles are exposed to light, a chemical reaction called photoreduction occurs.   This reaction is similar to the process used in traditional photography, where silver halides darken upon exposure to light.   Since silver is not an essential mineral for human health, so the body has no mechanism to process and eliminate it effectively.   What other conditions as crazy as this one do you know?   #Science #Fasctination #FunFact #Curiosity #Biochemistry #Skin #Medical
