Josef Albers's "Variant/Adobe" series (1947-58), though not as widely recognized as his "Homage to the Square", explores the relationship between color and form, laying the groundwork for his later studies in color theory. Inspired by the architecture of Mexican adobe houses, Albers captures the vibrant energy of orange within a minimalist, grid-based composition. Learn more: https://gu.gg/4ciDo64

Contrasting Realms: Deconstructing and Reimagining Modern Architectural Gold In the realm where two worlds converge, where geometry dances with reflection, there exists a mysterious entity, cloaked in the hues of gold. It is neither solely black nor white, but a shimmering essence that captivates the eye and demands attention. This enigmatic presence holds sway over visual moments in architecture, casting its golden glow upon the structures it touches. It is restless, craving the spotlight, its allure drawing the gaze of all who behold it. Like the legendary touch of Midas, it transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, overturning the logic of reason with its mesmerizing charm. But beyond its surface lies a deeper truth, a power struggle inherent in its golden mass. As ancient myths give way to new narratives, the quest to unveil its secrets continues. For within its radiant exterior lies a story waiting to be told, a tale of magic and mystery that transcends the boundaries of time and space. And so, we embark on a journey, guided by the light of this golden mass, in search of truth, wisdom, and the magic that lies within. #ArchitecturalAlchemy #ModernMarvels #GoldenEssence #DeconstructionVersusReconstruction #contemporaryarchitecture

Perceptual Grid - Reflections on our design work - Part 3 In the tranquility of Bastides, where shadows play with ancient stones, I first learned to listen to architecture’s subtle murmur. These early lessons, absorbed while juggling multiple jobs to put myself through school, have stayed with me. Decades later, they influence our current projects, shaped by what we call the 'Perceptual Grid'. This approach helps bridge the past with the present, allowing each space to evolve as it's felt. It's about creating architectural experiences that not only exists in time but also converses with it, reinterpreting tradition for modern times. We hope this post contributes to you finding your joy. Hand Sketch by Howard Chu, Saintes, France 1993

In a Mid-Century Modern structure, ornamentation without utility is anathema. Every element must serve a purpose. Yet, according to the MCM style, the form and design must be aesthetically pleasing; everything that is beautiful must also be functional, and everything that is functional must also be beautiful, with beauty in simplicity as a paramount virtue. The result is a fascinating amalgamation of the old and the new, of the natural and the manmade, that is distinctively and gloriously Mid-Century Modern. Below we describe some of the leading figures in the illustrious Mid-Century Modernist movement, as well as their most significant achievements both in MCM aesthetics and acoustics. https://lnkd.in/ectH4H_d #fsorb #acousticinnovations #midcenturydesign #moderndesign #midcenturymodern #acoustics #acousticsolutions #mcm #architecture #design #acousticpanels #mcmdesign #architecturedesign #interiordesign #exteriordesign

The Dream Machine - 3578 #AIArt Prompt: Craft an image that weaves together elements of Gothic architecture and mythological narratives. The scene should evoke a chilling atmosphere with its use of ominous shadows and imposing structures. Further enhance the mood with geometric designs like intricate patterns on the buildings, rigid lines and angles in the composition. Make sure the general ambiance emits a sense of fear and apprehension, keeping the subtle undercurrent of mystery and the unknown that is often associated with Gothic and Mythological settings.

The Dream Machine - 4618 #AIArt Prompt: Create a digital art image that evokes a historical setting. This scene should embody the atmosphere of romantic-era literature, with lovers maybe strolling elegantly along cobblestone streets or sharing moments of intimate conversation in a candle-lit room. To imbue a geometric quality, it could feature elements of architecture with pronounced shapes, like the pyramidal structure of ancient buildings, or the grid-like patterns in city layouts. The image should mesh these qualities together seamlessly, offering a unique blend of the warm sentimentality of a bygone era with the sharp precision of geometric design.

The Arch of Discipline: A Dialogue Between Tradition and Deconstruction In this drawing, the classical arch—historically a symbol of triumph, permanence, and authority—serves as a gateway not just between spaces, but between eras of architectural thought. Here, tradition stands as a sentinel, embodied by the twice life-sized soldier, a figure of discipline, order, and duty. Yet at his feet lies a deconstructed counterpart, dismantled and strewn in fragments—an allegory for the disintegration of those same traditions under the critical eye of Deconstruction. This image, born from the furnace of a charrette and the intellectual battles of Postmodernism, reflects an era when classical forms were resurrected, only to be torn apart by a new sense of architectural interrogation. Under the tutelage of figures like Philip Johnson, Deconstruction did not merely critique the classical; it disassembled it, force-feeding the profession with new tools, instruments, and methods to challenge the very foundations on which it had been built. But this is not simply a polemic. The towering figures, with one standing and the other dismantled, suggest a more profound dialogue—a reconciliation, perhaps, between the permanence of tradition and the fluidity of innovation. They preside over a ground once charged with the rigour of military drill, now softened by the rhythms of a football field, as the architect, too, plays their game. This transformation speaks to architecture’s ability to both resist and yield, to guard and let go, to remain steadfast yet evolve. Through the metaphor of the soldier’s deconstruction, the drawing speaks to the toil of the profession, the endless cycle of creation and critique, the push and pull between craft and concept. The arch, like the architect, stands vigilant, disciplined by tradition, yet continuously reshaped by the tools of the new. It is a call to view architecture not as a mere act of building, but as a game of life—one that demands we challenge ourselves, our histories, and our craft in pursuit of spaces that reconcile past with present, permanence with play. #ArchitecturalPhilosophy #Deconstruction #Postmodernism #TraditionVsInnovation #ClassicalReinterpretation #ArchitecturalDialogue #ArchitecturalMetaphor #DesignAndDiscipline #PhilipJohnsonInfluence #ArchitectureAsGame #CraftAndConcept #ReimaginingSpace
