Last Thursday, we acknowledged a milestone in the transformational redevelopment of our iconic site in Kew with an official Flag Raising Ceremony. Joining us for this momentous occasion were special guests Dr Monique Ryan MP, who serves as the Independent Member for Kooyong and Cr Nick Stavrou, representing Studley Ward as Councillor. Their insights underscored the importance of community involvement and collaboration in our efforts to enhance the facilities and services for Victorians at our iconic Kew location. Throughout the event, we were moved by heartwarming speeches from various Guide Dogs staff including Guide Dogs Victoria Chair Dr David A Cochrane, CEO Nicky Long, Campus Redevelopment Project Manager Catherine Curry-Hyde, sharing the journey that has brought us to this day. It was of high interest to hear some of the history recalled by our Dog Breeding Manager of 37 years, David Markham. To end the ceremony, we invited Guide Dog Clients Zoe, Zander and Kelly to raise the Torres Strait Islander, Aboriginal and Australian flags, marking a significant moment of unity and celebration. We extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to everyone who attended, and especially to 2Construct Pty Ltd and FPPV Architecture for all of their work over the last 5+ years to deliver this project. We cannot wait to see the rest of our Kew site come to life with tours being conducted and our official opening in September. #GuideDogsVictoria
