Facts about peripheral vascular disease (PVD) in women, according to THE SAGE GROUP: -PVD is one of the most prevalent female diseases, afflicting over 3X more women than breast cancer. -Five-year PVD mortality is 27% in females increasing to 60% for critical limb ischemia (CLI), the most severe form of PVD. This compares with 9% for breast cancer. -Women with PVD have a 2X to 4X increased risk of cardiovascular mortality and morbidity compared to women without PVD.
