“As school leaders reimagine education, they have focused intensely on student growth. But they must also—and perhaps first—rethink how to help educators grow and improve.” Professional learning, mentorship, and development opportunities are a key part of making the teaching job more sustainable, dynamic, and rewarding. This compelling op-ed from The 74 Media shares how yearly performance evaluations, when done right, can be a powerful tool for professional growth: https://lnkd.in/dwX7J-Bd #EdChat #K12 #SchoolLeaders #TeachersOfLinkedIn

🤔 Understanding the phases of a teacher's career is key to maintaining their motivation and engagement. Supportive leadership and manageable workloads boost morale, while heavy workloads and poor student behavior can harm it. #Education #TeacherSupport #SchoolLeadership #TeacherMorale

I strongly agree ✅ Leaders in education, let us never forget how crucial it is motivate educators and improve employee retention. Academic institutions must constantly implement professional development programs, recognize and celebrate their educators' achievements, foster a genuine, honest and sincere positive work environment, provide opportunities for collaboration and a safe, fear-free space for feedback, and support healthy work-life balance. Additionally, offering competitive salaries and benefits and enhancing these timely can contribute to overall educators' satisfaction and motivation among professionals of the institution. Doing the opposite, will likely result in high attrition rates, elevated personnel rotation, loss of institutional culture, lack of motivation which will affect student engagement and eventually, student loyalty to the institution. Take care of your business (your institution) by taking care of your educators, they're the core of what you do and they'll take care of your student satisfaction, development and retention while keeping you alive and relevant in a competitive market. Hit a "like" if you agree 😉 #Education #CostaRica #PrivateSchools #Academic #engagement #commitment #involvement #ownershipmatters

Founder & CEO at The Ability Challenge | Supporting educators in delivering research-based special education | Partnering with schools, districts, & networks to develop authentically inclusive school communities
Dr. Tyler S. Thigpen's article "Building Better Schools: The art of leading change in education" in Getting Smart is a good read for anyone passionate about transforming education. 🚀 I couldn't agree more with his vision of shifting from the "Achievement Era" to an "Abounding Era" where every child can unlock their extraordinary potential. 🔓 Thigpen outlines five key moves leaders must make to transform schools: 1. 📣 Articulating a bold vision 2. 👨🏫 Clarifying teacher competencies 3. 🎨 Designing signature learning experiences 4. 🤝 Gaining buy-in 5. 🔄 Establishing systems for continuous improvement These steps align perfectly with our approach at The Ability Challenge. We partner with schools to: ✅ Craft compelling visions for strengths-based education ✅ Provide comprehensive training and support to upskill teachers ✅ Co-design innovative learning experiences that foster student agency ✅ Build strong community engagement ✅ Implement data-driven continuous improvement processes But leading transformative change is incredibly challenging work. School leaders need robust support, resources, and tools to succeed. 💪 We must prioritize support for leaders in the following ways: 🤝 Provide coaching, professional development, and strategic planning support 📚 Share best practices and resources 🗳️ Advocate for policies and funding that enable this critical work Courageous school leadership is key to making the vision of the Abounding Era a reality. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with educational leaders every step of the way. 🫂 Together, we can build an education system that empowers every child to thrive. 🌱 #education #schoolleadership #strengths #potential #theabilitychallenge https://lnkd.in/eq62xQDz

Fostering Unity: Shifting from College Competition to Collaboration in the Workplace In today's dynamic workforce, the notion of colleges competing against each other is outdated. Instead, let's emphasize unity and collaboration among educational institutions, aligning with the shared goals of companies. When colleges recognize themselves as part of the same mission—to equip students with skills for success—it strengthens our collective impact. Let's champion collaboration over competition to better serve both students and employers. #UnityInTheWorkplace #CollaborativeEducation #SharedMission

There are lots of folks talking about "student-centered" learning. We at Partners know we can and must do more to put students--their voice and their agency--at the heart of improvement efforts, which may even require some rethinking about the role of adults. Read more in "Amplifying Student Voices--A Pathway to Transformative Education." "In the ever-evolving landscape of education, centering improvement efforts around the voices, experiences, and perspectives of students has become more than just a trend; it is a vital approach to achieving equity and excellence in schools. Partners program coordinators Tisha Markette and Rydell Harrison, with their extensive backgrounds in education leadership and equity training, are at the forefront of this movement. . . . As technology continues to develop (and take over??) soft skills like critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity are the most important workforce skills. School is where we teach them to see their futures and engage them for a lifetime. Check out our blog and download the primer from HIQ. It's fascinating!
