What the…..Wednesday I came across a job posting on LI for a VP International sales role that has the paragraph below as the introduction to the job description. Position Location - Must be willing to relocate to one of the following countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea, North Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Myanmar, Mongolia, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Timor-Leste, China. I did a quick glance and before closing the window something caught my eye. Now Southeast and East Asia is a part of the world that I have never done any business. My experience has been limited to Latin America and Western Europe but I am very well versed in the challenges of doing business outside the USA. After a second look at the list of countries, I began to wonder if the ELT at this company is either forward thinking or completely off their rocker because there is one country that well, it simply doesn’t belong in the list. And if they want to do business in that country, I wonder if they have thought through the challenges. This proves that Country Risk Analysis is something that companies are no longer doing when crafting their Strategic and GTM plans. See if you can spot the country. Have a good Wednesday. PS – The job is still posted and 51 people have applied. I wonder if they read the JD thoroughly. 😂
Did the JD state Southeast & East Asia market?
I spotted the one you mean. 😜
