This initiative invites researchers to submit proposals for payloads to fly aboard Virgin Galactic’s Delta-class suborbital spaceship, a cutting-edge platform for conducting impactful research and advancing human spaceflight. 🪐What We’re Looking For: Our mission focuses on innovative, high-impact research in: - Biomedical Sciences: Advancing women’s health, neuroscience, accessibility in space, and astronaut health biomarkers. - Technological Innovations: Developing biomonitoring devices, AI-driven health technologies, and tools to enhance human spaceflight. - Physical and Materials Sciences: Pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in microgravity environments. 🌎Key Highlights: Selected payloads will undergo rigorous review based on scientific merit, technical feasibility, mission compatibility, and societal impact. IIAS provides access to a range of testbeds, from suborbital and parabolic flight to neutral buoyancy and hypobaric chambers. When I started mentoring students at JPL 23 years ago, I never imagined I'd one day be advising NASA's leadership on how we make space science more accessible. But 2024 wasn't just a year of personal milestones - it was a testament to what happens when we truly commit to opening doors. This year crystallized a truth I've known throughout my career: Fairness isn't just a checkbox, it's how we expand human potential. From my appointment to the NASA Advisory Council to leading groundbreaking fairness for all at every moment has been about creating pathways where none existed before. Two moments that capture this journey: 1. NASA Advisory Council Appointment My wildest dream realized. As I shared when first announcing this honor: "In my wildest dreams, I never imagined I would be in this arena."
