When I started mentoring students at JPL 23 years ago, I never imagined I'd one day be advising NASA's leadership on how we make space science more accessible. But 2024 wasn't just a year of personal milestones - it was a testament to what happens when we truly commit to opening doors. This year crystallized a truth I've known throughout my career: Fairness isn't just a checkbox, it's how we expand human potential. From my appointment to the NASA Advisory Council to leading groundbreaking fairness for all at every moment has been about creating pathways where none existed before. Two moments that capture this journey: 1. NASA Advisory Council Appointment My wildest dream realized. As I shared when first announcing this honor: "In my wildest dreams, I never imagined I would be in this arena." Representing the Science Committee means amplifying voices historically unheard in space exploration. https://lnkd.in/e6dcaXT6 2. Team NASA Award for Collective Impact Proof that real change happens together. "I've had the pleasure of winning over a dozen NASA awards, but I hold this one close to my heart. It is a TEAM award." https://lnkd.in/eY_HmCx7 Looking ahead to 2025, as we prepared for the Europa Clipper launch, my mission remains crystal clear: continue building bridges. Every student who sees themselves represented in space science, every researcher who finds support where none existed before - they are the true mission. Deepest gratitude to my JPL family, NASA Goddard, the Heliophysics team, and especially my wife Shayna - who reminds me daily that when we expand opportunity, we expand humanity's horizons. #NASA #STEM #Diversity #Leadership #SpaceScience #LinkedInRewind #2024Wrapped
