🚚 Tractor Trailer Safety Tips: Navigating the Roads with Care 🚚 As we navigate our daily commutes, it's vital to remember the importance of safe driving, especially while on our nation's highways and byways around tractor trailers. Distracted driving poses a significant risk, not just to ourselves but to these large vehicles that share our roads. Here are some key safety tips for the general public: 👉Keep a Safe Distance: Always maintain a safe distance from tractor trailers. These vehicles need more time and space to stop. 👉Avoid Blind Spots: Tractor trailers have larger blind spots. If you can't see the driver in their side mirror, they likely can't see you. 👉Stay Focused: Minimize distractions. That means no texting, eating, or other activities that take your eyes off the road. 👉Pass Safely: Ensure you have enough space and visibility before passing a tractor trailer. Always pass on the left side where the driver has the best visibility. 👉Be Predictable: Use signals early and avoid sudden lane changes or movements. While "WHERE THERE'S A ROAD, WE'LL FIND A WAY." is our motto and rallying cry, at Rhode Sense, safe driving isn't just talk; it's also what we stand for. Join us in making our roads safer for everyone! Info@RhodeSense.com #RoadSafety #TractorTrailerSafety #DistractedDriving #DriveSafe #RhodeSense

Will the Mechanic Listen to the Driver? The driver had a complaint. “When starting to move from a stop there is a considerable amount of jerk, then while shifting a pretty good slam (as the trailer moves forward). This happens any time the tractor slows down and then speeds up. As far as I can tell there is no side-to-side movement but front-to-back…” Check out our latest article to learn what the mechanic's response was: https://loom.ly/HgoIIsw #kingpin #fifthwheel #commercialtrucks #commercialtrailers #trucking

Wednesday Safety Corner: Did you know that it can take a loaded semi-truck up to 165 to 600 miles to come to a complete stop after hitting the breaks? That's almost the length of two football fields! According to the law, a typical tractor-trailer or other large truck can weigh as much as 80,000 pounds. In comparison, most passenger vehicles are about 3,000 – 4,000 pounds. So, if a passenger vehicle weighing 4,000 pounds, traveling under ideal conditions at a speed of 65 miles per hour would take 316 feet to stop (nearly the length of a football field), imagine how much distance a fully loaded tractor-trailer weighing 80,000 pounds would need to come to a stop. It's important to remember that these statistics are under ideal conditions, meaning good weather, dry roads, and other favorable factors. In less ideal conditions, the stopping distance for both passenger vehicles and large trucks can increase significantly. Stay safe on the road and remember to give large trucks plenty of space and time to stop. #safetyfirst #trucksafety #roadsafety

Diesel Tech with a MBA | Maintenance tips | Probably in a service truck | 2006 Time Person of the Year
Heading to a service call for a trailer issue and I call the driver. Me: What kind of truck do you have and what’s the color? That way I can spot you easier when I pull into the Flying J. Driver: Well I have a 53’ trailer and it’s white. You can’t miss me! Me thinking to myself: Oh a white 53’ dry van, never see those around a truck stop 🙄 Me, what I really say: Ok, I’ll do my best to spot you when I get there. In all seriousness, this job was for the trailer brake lights stopped working. This is a prime example how not only is a pre/post trip inspection a great idea, but also a mid trip inspection anytime you stop. Never want to see any vehicle with inoperative brake lights, especially a tractor/trailer. Safety is key! Let’s all get home safe today. #mobileservice #trucking #safety #truckingsafety
