#RevampingNepalAirports * At the Dubai International Airport, one can whizz through immigration in a jiffy. Through just one look at the camera, the passenger’s data gets matched on the stored passport and then the process is complete. No wonder they can handle 87 million passengers in a year and aim to handle 200 million passengers by 2030. *An e-passport eliminates the need for human intervention, but we insist on punching all the data. * Today, if you pass through Hamad International Airport, Doha, it would be rare you would not bump into a Nepali staff – be it at security, guest services, or duty-free stores. * For Nepal’s tourism future, it is critical we fix our airports. It is not necessary that we need our own airline. Zillions will fly through if the services at the airport are good and the passengers enjoy the airport experience. #NEFView #TheOtherView Nepal Economic Forum https://lnkd.in/gqDYpD9b

"The difficulty lies not so much in developing new ideas as in escaping from old ones." -John Maynard Keynes So much of what we do when we travel, or in fact much of our lives, is done because it's the thing we've always done. This has come up a lot in my research for airports of the future. When we think of an airport we think of the terminal that for much of the past 85 years has existed because getting on a plane needed administration work like checking in, clearing security or immigration and customs. Do we need to do those things in the same way? If no, then what is the airport terminal actually for then? Is it instead more of a new type of city centre where much more life, work and play goes on than thing on the periphery? We still see this in developed places that do thing thing that has always been there, even when it doesn't need to be, while more ambitious minds scrap the legacy. It'll be quite exciting then to see what happens as Dubai moves its airport and can shift the thinking. Who knows, maybe we'll catch up!? https://lnkd.in/gyF4qgyp

💡 The resumption of #Emirates flights from #Lagos to #Dubai on October 1, 2024, marks a pivotal moment for #Nigerian travelers and businesses ✈️. This development restores crucial air connectivity, offering daily service with a Boeing 777-300ER. 💡 I see this as a strategic move that will revitalize leisure and business travel, providing seamless connections to over 140 destinations through Dubai 🌟. The strong partnership between Emirates and the Nigerian government underscores the importance of this route, benefiting both passengers and the cargo sector 📦, enhancing trade relations significantly 🤝. 💡 For Nigerians seeking #residence permits in the UAE, this is a promising turn of events. The 2022 'visa ban' had curtailed opportunities, but this move signals a potential easing of restrictions and a warming of bilateral ties 🌐. Dubai, already a favored destination for Nigerian tourists and real estate investors, stands to regain its appeal 🏙️. Before the pandemic, Nigerian investments in Dubai's real estate market were substantial (with investments valued at nearly $2 billion according to media reports citing the #DLD 🏡), and the resumption of flights is likely to reignite this trend. Additionally, Emirates SkyCargo’s enhanced operations will support Nigerian businesses by facilitating the export and import of essential goods, further bolstering economic ties between the two nations 📈. I'm eager to see the exciting developments and opportunities this resumption will bring in Q4 of this year! ✨ #PrivateClientInsights #Fragomen #Travel #BusinessTravel #Immigration #RealEstate #Trade #SkyCargo #Nigeria #UAE 🌍✈️🤝

As a Singapore resident, I continue to be impressed by the city’s embrace of innovation and efficiency. Bloomberg’s recent article highlights a remarkable step forward for Singapore’s Changi Airport—processing immigration in as little as 10 seconds thanks to cutting-edge facial recognition and iris biometrics. This passport-less clearance system, implemented across all four passenger terminals, not only enhances security but also significantly improves traveler experience. Since the rollout on Sept 30, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority reports a 60% reduction in processing time, transforming Changi into one of the most efficient hubs worldwide. With nearly 1.5 million travelers already experiencing seamless, passport-free immigration, this breakthrough showcases Singapore’s forward-thinking approach to convenience and operational excellence. As a resident and a frequent traveler, it’s exciting to see how such advancements continue to set Singapore apart, offering both locals and visitors a glimpse into the future of travel. Any other efficient airport experiences that come to mind? #Innovation #Singapore #ChangiAirport #Travel
