This is the best homepage in SaaS: Why? Because it tells you what the product actually does. Too many B2B marketers are trapped in generic buzzwords about revenue generation without actually telling you, in PLAIN ENGLISH, what they do. We’re inundated with bland boring slogans where everyone promises “revenue generation” based on 2nd order messaging so generic it’s effectively meaningless. I have a radical idea. What if you just told us exactly what your product does and how it helps and assume we can correlate the 2nd order impacts of that help? This is a lesson I am learning every day from Peep Laja and why I admire what he’s building at Wynter.

It's ok... Here are some issues and ideas: 1. Too much yellow. 2. Too little info for a qualified lead to Book a Demo; too soon for that CTA. 3. Not sure why I would book a demo when I can "Sign up", and what does Sign up mean in this context? Sign up for a demo account? Buy now? 4. The copy is repetitive and could be reduced by ~30% or more. I've rewritten the copy from 97 words to 55, see below. 5. 99% of B2B SaaS website messaging is too complex. (That means yours) Companies try to explain their product all at once. In doing so, they bombard and bamboozle visitors with messaging that raises more questions than it provides answers. The better approach is to start by stripping the product right back to its core components. Ask yourself: - What's the biggest slice of value I can explain in simple terms? - What's the biggest slice of value I can explain in simple terms? - What's the biggest slice of value I can explain in simple terms? - What's the biggest slice of value I can explain in simple terms? Build your messaging around these individual slices. Over time, you can start to reinforce how the individual slices make up the whole. Sure, this approach takes time and patience. But doing it all at once isn't the answer. After all, your messaging is a marathon, not a sprint 🏃🏼 --------- P.S. Across 103 B2B SaaS companies, HockeyStack found that it took 15.47 blogs on average until a lead was closed-won. Breaking that down further, here's how each step played out: 1. Leads visit 4.28 blogs before filling out any forms at all. 2. MQLs tend to visit another 9.12 blogs before becoming an SQL. 3. From SQL to CW, another 6.35 blogs are viewed on average. At Idomoo we did a similar investigation across 2023 and found that there is a correlation between marketing content and not only converting through the funnel as seen above, but also when it comes to renewals and upsells as well! I've seen a lot of teams that forget to prioritize contributing to the post-contract growth of their customer base. 👋 Question for my b2b SaaS friends: I'm currently thinking through whether to make Whimsical's enterprise plan self serve. We do not hide our enterprise pricing so the thinking here is why not let users go all the way on their own. Based on past experience, I'd expect to see more but smaller initial enterprise deals, which is a trade I'm willing to make given the virality of our product once a few people start using it. 3 steps to becoming a B2B SaaS company NO ONE can ignore. STEP 1. Clarify which problems are both valuable & critical to solve. Customers buy when you can solve the problem that's at the Top of their agenda. Meaning, avoid problems that are valuable, but not critical. STEP 2. Identify which problems you solve best in the market. If you can't exceed expectations - you're just like anybody else. Focus on the problems where you can add the most perceived value for your customers. STEP 3. Figure out who's prepared to pay a PREMIUM for that. These are the customers you want. They pay well, get great results, and become ambassadors for your business. Remember this - SaaS isn't about doing everything for everyone. It's about solving one problem so well it will excite people enough to tell others.
