As we enter into political season, I just want to share a quick reflection on what my friends and colleagues can expect from me. I am not a political animal, and certainly do not consider myself super-partisan - I support great people who care for our country, who appreciate diverse thought, and also have an ability to cross the aisle - and I believe #veterans appreciate this particularly strongly because of the years of service with so many of different backgrounds. I also believe this is important enough of an issue - to work on the the divide in this nation by electing great people - that I'll assume the risk of being criticized for sharing political thoughts on LinkedIn :) If you know me, you know that if I care about something, I'm happy to take the heat. This year, I happen to have 3 friends who meet this criteria of being amazing, caring leaders - on the Republican side, David McCormick is running for Senate in PA, and on the Dem side, Patrick Ryan is a Congressman in NY and Gov. Wes Moore is our Governor here in Maryland. These are wonderful human beings. They have a lot in common, and a lot not in common! They make our nation a better, stronger, place. Let me know if you've got amazing folks that you feel strongly about who are making our country better. Let's have the courage to not be afraid to support our friends and tell people about them. I'll be sharing more about each in the coming months. #itsthatimportant #america #bipartisanship And keep this thread positive. Not a place for debate, and not a place for hate.
It is critical, now, that people remember that we have more in common than we think. Politics need to be based on the individual rather than party more than ever.
With you 1000 percent. Veterans and others who selflessly served each other and our nation are those we need in office. Entrenched politicians who use the office to serve themselves, and stay beyond their time, are too common on both sides.
Jake Harriman The time is NOW. Our friend Jake Harriman is leading a phenomenal movement, A More Perfect Union, to help restore unity and bi-partisan democracy in our country. We must come together, one nation, under God, indivisible with justice for all. While I do not know Patrick Ryan or Gov. Wes Moore, I have known David McCormick for nearly two decades. A kind person, wonderful human and a courageous leader. Leaders like these will help make America Great Again, and it won't just be a soundbite or campaign slogan. It will be REAL! And it's necessary. Appreciate the post, Guy Filippelli!
Dave McCormick is awesome! USMA ‘87 and a former wrestler!
Thanks Guy Filippelli for having the courage to call this out. The notion of bipartisanship today seems quaint, and we also need it now more than ever. Here's to bridging the gap and remembering that we're all Americans, all in this together, and it's this united strength that time and again has helped us overcome our challenges and adversaries.
Thanks for leading from the front, Guy Filippelli. I'm adding my personal endorsement of each of these three great leaders, and I'm grateful to you for carefully explaining "why." #itsthatimportant
If more Democrats thought like Republicans and more Republicans thought like Democrats, the country would be better off. Values and character is what makes great political leaders. I think Dan Crenshaw is someone that will continue to be a great leader.
Well said Guy Filippelli. Thanks for sharing your perspective!!! As a Nation, we are at an inflection point and it will be leaders of character who get us through this rubicon.
Love me some civil society in action!

6moIt's always a good choice to vote for character first, Guy. Appreciate you amplifying this clear-minded message and our shared responsibility to be invested in choosing who we send to office. I had the pleasure of working with David McCormick and he's as high quality a leader as can be found. Good luck to him, Wes, and Patrick.
