GWNET: Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition’s Post

💚🌍 January 26th marks International Clean Energy Day!   On this occasion, we reflect on the urgent need for universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy (SDG 7) — a necessity for a sustainable future and an enabler for reaching many other SDGs.   For GWNET, this day is also a reminder of the critical importance of including women in the energy transition. We firmly believe that diversity fuels innovation, creativity, and resilience in the energy sector, and that it is essential for women's voices to be amplified in energy and climate discussions. With less than 1/3 of women in the global renewable energy workforce and a growing future job market in this area, we need to attract more women to the sustainable energy sector and empower them in energy.   As part of our mission to champion gender equality, we are proud to nurture a vibrant network of 4,600+ female energy professionals from 150+ countries, fostering opportunities for connection and professional growth. Through advocacy campaigns, supporting research on the gender-energy nexus, and running mentoring programmes, we remain committed to uplifting women who are reshaping the energy transition.
