🌟 Reflecting on the Journey 🌟
I remember the day I finished my graduation and found myself at a crossroads. Should I study further or dive into the job market? I chose the latter, with my mother hoping I'd join a bank, which was quite the trend back then. However, my heart was set on teaching, and my supportive parents stood by my decision.
My father diligently scoured the newspaper job listings and found a job suitable for me. My first interview was for an accounts teacher at a large school, where I faced a panel of 10 interviewers! Needless to say, I flunked it.
Undeterred, my father found another opportunity for me at Amrit Jyoti School, Ahmedabad. This interview was unique, with four interviewers: the two principals, a teacher, and a parent, Jayshree Shah. Each spoke to me separately, making me feel at ease. I did well and landed my dream job!
Amrit Jyoti School had about 600-700 students, with branches at Ambawadi (Pre-primary to Grade 4) and Pritamnagar (Grade 5 to 10).
Initially trained to teach Nursery, however, when school reopened after summer vacations, I was told my role had changed!! I was to be the secretary, fee in charge, telephone operator and receptionist - all rolled in one for this very unique school. This was due to the current secretary's maternity leave.
Was I disappointed? Yes, but I adapted quickly. The resilience and adaptability of youth is remarkable, isn't it? This experience taught me valuable skills and helped me discover new strengths. When the secretary returned, I happily handed over my duties, eager to return to the classroom.
