If the success of your trip was judged solely by the photos you took, you could be mistaken for thinking WINGMAVEN's recent trip to Auckland was a disaster! We didn't take a single photo during 4 days of working with two separate (but equally amazing) leadership teams through our Collective Leadership programs, facilitating open and challenging conversations designed to deepen trust and supercharge communication and collaboration as #firstteams. We completely forgot to take any selfies with the fabulous people we shared meals, coffees, sunny walks and awesome chats with, including Simon Hofmann, Anna Curzon, Dan Houghton, Kate Kember, Amelia Taylor and Chloe Moore. What we did capture was three images that really sum up our 'first team' in action... especially when the going gets tough! 📸 1️⃣ On the plane MEL-AKL, all smiles and complimentary glass of bubbles in hand 📸 2️⃣ 48 hours in, we are a woman down. Laura Wilson finally succumbs to whatever horrific lurgy had been plaguing her son all school holidays, and spends 3 days bed bound. Jenn ten Seldam keeps soldiering on through meetings and leadership team facilitation. It's not as fun without Lau- but can she get the job done and done well? Heck yeah! In between, she drops meds and cold-pressed juice to her hotel door (but absolutely no further!) 📸 3️⃣ Life as the non-quarantined business partner. Dining alone while giving a full debrief via whatsapp to the one in lockdown. Side note: Laura Wilson made a miraculous recovery and we got to deliver the last 2 days together- just the way we prefer it! This weekend, I will be participating in a leadership retreat, which means I will be Out of Office as far as The Mentor Mission is concerned. However, I am looking forward to sharing what I learn when I get back. In the meantime, I want to highlight the importance of taking some time away. It's easy to get caught up in the grind and feel like back-to-back meetings are a must. But sometimes, taking a break is just what you need to come back even stronger.
