We at Stage2Startups heard you. One of the feedbacks about our book The Legal Side to Starting a Business was “Everyone creates an audiobook version of a book. Why you don't have it?” On the other hand, another person said: “Are you using AI to enhance the performance of your business?” And then we thought “What if we combine these two things in one?” That's exactly what we did. It is impressive how you can choose the narrator's voice - man or woman, age, tone, speed. And even assign different voices to different characters. The result? After more than 30 hours "in the closet", I have finished recording the audiobook for my recently published book, The Startup Lottery. Phew!!! I can honestly say that I'm tired of hearing the sound of my own voice! The book will be up on Audible VERY SOON, right after it clears a quality review by the team at ACX. It was an incredible learning experience, and with some expert help and guidance, I was able to produce the book, including equipment, for under $1,000! My audio engineer and new friend Eric Carstensen (ericvoiceover), whom I contracted with through Fiverr, has been an amazing sherpa throughout the process. Thank you Eric for patiently and methodically walking me through all of the steps from: - what not to record (all the supplementary materials including the charts and tables from the book are available for review and download at: https://lnkd.in/db6wikG3) - what mic to get (Blue Yeti) - where to record (my bedroom closet) - how to set up the room (with acoustic panels on all flat wall services) - how to set up the mic (monodirectional setting with gain and volume recos) - tips for recording (talk to my clothes, keep a consistent distance from the mic, make sure the HVAC system is off, and learn how to "punch and roll") When I released The Startup Lottery, it hadn't occurred to me to do an audiobook, but enough people asked me if I had one that it seemed a good idea. I wondered if I should hire a voice actor and was told I had a good voice for narration (and a good face for radio!) 😀 I'm glad I did it. And I'm glad I'm done!
