Sound pressure level measuring. Why can this also be important in pump installations? You can find information about the pump's sound pressure level in a pump manual. These values for sound pressure include a tolerance of 3 dB(A) according to EN 4871 or I SO 1680. Noise regulations: The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) recommends that workers wear hearing protectors when engaged in work that exposes them to noise equal to or exceeding 85 DBA as an 8-hour TWA. Sometimes, even double hearing protection is needed. Useful publications: " Preventing Occupational Hearing Loss, a practical guide". https://lnkd.in/e2mZHMds "Don't lose your hearing". https://lnkd.in/e9QvbM3p Sound pressure level measuring: Why is measuring sound pressure level important in a pump installation? Sometimes, a customer wants to be sure that people can enter a building and work near a pump installation without wearing ear protection. In that case, they call an expert to measure the sound pressure level according to DIN456635 or ISO3744 / NEN-EN-ISO 203612. They can provide a report with all measuring data so the customer can take the needed precautions. Stay safe and protect your ears if needed! #consultancy #expert #centrifugalpumps

Ear Protection Why is Ear Protection Important? Prolonged exposure to loud noises can cause permanent hearing damage. Noise-induced hearing loss is a leading occupational hazard. Types of Ear Protection Earplugs: Disposable or reusable, earplugs reduce noise levels by 15-30 decibels. Earmuffs: Over-the-head or behind-the-head styles, earmuffs reduce noise levels by 20-30 decibels. Canal Caps: Pre-molded or custom-made, canal caps reduce noise levels by 20-30 decibels. Choosing the Right Ear Protection Consider the noise level of your work environment. Select ear protection with a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) suitable for your work environment. Ensure ear protection fits comfortably and securely. Benefits of Ear Protection Prevents noise-induced hearing loss. Reduces risk of tinnitus and other hearing-related problems. Enhances overall hearing health. Ear Protection Standards OSHA regulations: Require employers to provide ear protection for employees exposed to noise levels above 85 decibels. ANSI standards: Provide guidelines for ear protection selection, use, and maintenance. #EarProtection #HearingSafety #NoiseReduction #OSHA #ANSI #HearingHealth #WorkplaceSafety #SafetyFirst #IndustrialSafety #ManufacturingSafety #ConstructionSafety #Earplugs #Earmuffs #CanalCaps
