💸 The Strategic Growth Council voted unanimously to approve $5 million in grant funding through the new Community Resilience Centers program to support communities as they build resilience to climate change. The Council awarded Planning Grants to 11 low-income, disadvantaged, rural, unincorporated, and tribal communities across the State. The Community Resilience Centers Program Planning Grant funding will support communities in developing plans for future implementation or operation of neighborhood-level community resilience center facilities and related programming. Selected projects will address community-voiced goals of energy independence, workforce development, food security, emergency response, and tribal sovereignty. The Community Resilience Centers will work toward these community-identified priorities year-round, in addition to providing respite during climate and other emergencies. Understanding that here in Detroit this is the time period of the demolishing and demolition of the old in preparation for the last 7 to 5 years of the reconstruct of Detroit to be “dubbed” *New Detroit* which objective appears to be a Non-Black Majority Detroit, I would be remiss not to mention that I’m hip to the supposedly 30 year plan to achieve this nefarious goal. Bipartisan Yes In My Backyard (YIMBY) Act Reintroduced... The House Financial Services Committee passed the Yes In My Backyard (YIMBY) Act, H.R. 3507, by a vote of 48-0 Thursday, May 16. This NAA-backed priority bill will encourage localities to eliminate discriminatory land use policies and remove barriers that prevent needed housing from being built. Sponsored in the House of Representatives by Congressmen Mike Flood (R-NE) and Derek Kilmer (D-WA), the legislation will require Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) recipients to report periodically on the extent to which they are removing discriminatory land use policies and implementing inclusive and affordable housing policies.
