Despite the significant benefits, many Michiganders face significant hurdles in becoming homeowners. One major challenge is rising home prices coupled with stagnant wages. This fact alone leaves many low- and moderate-income families priced out of the market, especially in urban areas. This is why we rely on efficient building methods, modest house sizes, and nonprofit loans to keep costs low and make Habitat homes affordable for low- to moderate-income families. Together, Habitat for Humanity of Michigan and our affiliates are paving the way for more Michiganders to experience the joys and security of owning their own homes. Homes are more than just walls and roofs... they're the foundation of our stories, the keeper of our memories, and the legacy we leave behind. In real estate, we don't just sell properties, we create perpetual possibilities for generations to come. Every property we touch, every family we help find their dream home, and every generation that inherits the keys... is a testament to the power of perpetuity in real estate. Think about it - the homes we sell become the backdrop for countless memories, the foundation for families to grow, and the legacy for future generations to inherit. Let's build something that will make our ancestors proud, and our children grateful. Let's create homes that will be loved for generations to come! Did you know that non-profit organizations, government agencies, individuals looking for housing, and university students enjoy complimentary access to the National Housing Preservation Database (NHPD)? The NHPD is an address-level inventory of federally assisted rental housing in the US. The agencies and departments that fund these programs have data on the individual programs that they manage, but there was no central location where all of these data are integrated. This made it difficult to get a clear picture of the current stock of public and affordable housing in a community. It also means those who wish to preserve public and affordable housing in their community could not easily get the information they need about particular properties. The NHPD was created to address these issues. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g799YTVS

The numbers don't lie. In the next 5 years alone, Utah risks losing 3,551 publicly supported rental homes due to expiring affordability restrictions. This figure climbs to over 12,000 homes in the next 30 years. With 85% of these properties being LIHTC properties, the challenge is clear: we need effective and immediate action to preserve affordable housing. At the Utah Housing Preservation Fund, we're dedicated to finding and implementing solutions to ensure long-term housing affordability. We work tirelessly to protect our communities and prevent the loss of vital rental homes. Join us in our mission to preserve affordable housing in Utah. Let's secure a stable future for all. #AffordableHousing #HousingPreservation #UtahHousing #CommunityImpact #LIHTC #HousingSolutions

I'm a big advocate for building new housing. I've developed housing on church land in the past and I have a number of projects in the pipeline currently. Some of the churches in our RootedGood Good Futures Accelerator are developing affordable housing as a way to serve their community. BUT developing housing on church land is not a magic solution. It is far from easy. It isn't always the best idea for use of church land. And most of all, it is not the responsibility of churches alone to solve our nation's affordable housing crisis. This Bloomberg article takes a good look at some of the challenges that limit the extent to which churches can address affordable housing using their land. #goneforgood #goodfutures #affordablehousing #propertydevelopment
