The opening of Habitat Health and Kaiser Permanente’s first PACE center is a meaningful milestone in our work to improve access to vital health care services for older adults. Now, hundreds of eligible people can remain in their own homes and communities, while also receiving integrated primary/specialty care and social support through KP to meet all of their medical, mental, and social health needs.   This partnership is one way we’re advancing our mission to provide high-quality, affordable care and improve the health of our communities. I look forward to seeing the impact this center will have, and am excited to expand this effort with Habitat Health to create pathways to better health and well-being for communities in need. 

I was recently doing some research on assisted living technology, and I was shocked to see that a one bedroom apartment in an assisted living complex in the DMV area was over $5,000 per month! Good heavens, I can see why so many seniors choose to stay in their own homes as long as possible. There are a number of ramifications of this choice, not least of all is that many seniors don't often get the care they need at home.
