Employees Rights At Work Workplace discrimination is when someone is treated unfairly at work. The Equality Act (2010) ensures that people should not be treated unjustly due to their: Age Disability Gender reassignment Marriage or civil partnership Pregnancy or maternity Race Religion or belief Sex Sexual orientation Employers are required by the Health and Safety at Work Act of 1974 to give their workers a safe and healthy workplace. This entails maintaining any equipment that is utilised, keeping the workspace tidy, air-conditioned, and well-lit, and providing amenities like washbasins, toilets, and clean drinking water. Sexual harassment in the workplace, in any form, is prohibited and may lead to prosecution. Employees are shielded against this harassment in the workplace by UK labour legislation. A type of sexual harassment, is if you are forced to perform sexual favours in exchange for a promotion or to have job stability.
