🌍 𝐄𝐁𝐎 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐫𝐚𝐩-𝐔𝐩 🌟 The EBO Worldwide Network Meeting wrapped up with two days of dynamic discussions and impactful collaboration. Leaders across the network united to share insights on global strategies, advocacy milestones, regional updates, and flagship projects, including the EU-Africa Business Forum Taskforce, Business Sentiment Reports, and green economy initiatives. Engagement with the European Commission brought valuable opportunities to deepen partnerships, focusing on SME support, sustainable growth, and expanding trade. Key discussions with DG INTPA, DG NEAR, and DG GROW emphasised economic security and supply chain resilience, driving competitiveness and innovation. Additionally, valuable insights were garnered on the Commission's new priorities from a trade perspective and the importance of deepening the essential role of the private sector in advancing European business interests globally. A heartfelt thank you to the EU Commission representatives, for their expert insights and unwavering support. From January 7-9, Rotterdam hosted inspiring workshops and a seminar as part of the European project HR4ALL - Healthy Regions 4 All. This collaborative initiative, under the Kansen voor West program, brings together seven European partners to address a shared challenge: tackling overweight and obesity. The partners are the Municipality of Haderslev, Denmark, the Region of Southern Denmark, Partnerschap Overgewicht Nederland (PON), Gasol Foundation and the Municipality of Sant Boi de Llobregat from Spain, and the University Rehabilitation Institute and Murska Sobota Development Center from Slovenia. The #HR4All project aims to: ▪️ strengthen regional policy authorities on health regarding overweight/obesity; ▪️ include vulnerable groups; ▪️ and identify and integrate innovative solutions across partner regions. The Gemeente Rotterdam, at the request of the Partnerschap Overgewicht Nederland (PON), is involved as an associated policy partner in #HR4ALL, serving as a model municipality. As the first of eight municipalities collaborating with #PON, Rotterdam has played a leading role in the Dutch approach to overweight and obesity under the National Prevention Agreement. Yesterday, on January 8, the Gemeente Rotterdam and its partners showcased their activities and shared knowledge and experiences related to this theme, inspiring progress in the fight against obesity. The South Australian West Coast ACCHO Network (SAWCAN) combines the resources, knowledge, and passion of five Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs). Under the SAWCAN banner, the five-member ACCHOs work together to provide comprehensive primary health care to their communities, which includes approximately 5,500 Aboriginal People. SAWCAN’s unique governance structure, innovative approach, and self determinative thinking enable them to use resources effectively, reduce duplication, and provide the best possible primary healthcare to their communities. Instead of achieving small wins for a single community, the SAWCAN can tackle bigger challenges by working together and sharing the work and the benefits. A consortium is a great way to pool resources and leverage effort as well as economies of scale. SAWCAN was recognised as an outstanding example of effective governance as a finalist in the 2022 Indigenous Governance Awards, hosted in partnership by AIGI and Reconciliation Australia.
