I just went through the superb overview by Biopharmatrend "A Booming Weight-Loss Drug Discovery Landscape" to get a "feeling" how the oral drug delivery solutions (Oral) are positioned versus the subcutaneous (Sub-Q) ones. Currently in Phase I: 10 Sub-Q - 5 Oral - 2 Multiple Phase II: 7 Sub-Q - 9 Oral Phase III: 6 Sub-Q - 2 Oral Market: 2 Sub-Q It is going to be interesting to see what happens in the near future what happens in the drug delivery area and how many companies will further enter this market. Just finished a graphical abstract for a DMT #transdermal patch. Our results show extended release with a low (sub-psychedelic) dose without head-twitch effects. The bioavailability of this transdermal route was outstanding for a molecule with so-called "poor druggability." Hopefully this sheds more light into optimized formulations and non-invasive drug delivery options for drugs like #DMT. #sciencesunday
