Celebrate International Compost Awareness Week with Us! This week, we're spotlighting Gary Gandel, a local champion for sustainable food systems! Gary has been instrumental in establishing new gardens around Walnut Hills that utilize composting to grow fresh produce. These gardens then donate their produce to organizations that feed the community. Gary's dedication exemplifies the power of compost to nourish not just the soil, but also those in need. Please join Monterey Bay Aquarium and our colleagues in the Aquarium Conservation Partnership by adding your name to our petition for strong action on #PlasticPollution by telling President Biden and the United States government: There is #NoTimeToWaste! Each day we learn more about the harm that results from the tide of plastic engulfing our planet: harm to our health, to our communities, to wildlife, and to ecosystems. Now we have a real opportunity to do something about it. Your voice is critical in the process. This month – Earth Month 2024 – representatives from the United States and over 160 other countries will meet in Ottawa, Canada to draw up the critical blueprint for a first-ever Global Plastic Treaty. It’s a critical moment for the development of a historic global treaty to end plastic pollution. To make the treaty strong and effective, the United States must be a leader in demanding bold action. The Aquarium and Environmental Law Institute just released a report confirming that the U.S. has all the authority it needs – under existing federal law – to move forward at home and internationally. When we stand together and speak out, we can take the bold action needed to safeguard our health and the health of our ocean planet for generations. I hope you’ll sign the petition today. https://lnkd.in/gRYqKzbU #OceanPlasticPollution #GlobalPlasticTreaty #PublicHealth #microplastics #FossilFuels #EarthMonth2024 #EarthMonth

Chief Operating Officer @Earthview Brands | Love outstanding challenges 💪 | Business development | Acting to protect our 🌎
Today is #GiveMiamiDay, an event which collects funds for NGO and social/green initiatives! I am part of @Cleanmiamibeach, an association that tries to fight plastic pollution in the ocean through education, cleanups, art workshops and political actions! I’ve created my own fundraising to collect $500 to help them achieve more in 2024. Anyone who has ever lived in Miami Beach or visited this amazing city is part of the equation: even in our effort to consume less plastic and recycle, we are still using plastic packaging or ustensiles. Think to the many restaurants that serves your drinks in plastic cups or to the boat party where you used the famous red plastic cup. Only 8% of the plastic is recycled in the US and a part of it still goes in our beautiful ocean, destabilizing the amazing sea life. If you want to make a difference, you can help by donating or just sharing! For our planet 🌎💙🐠🐬🐢 #saynotoplastic #plasticpollution #reducereuserecycle

📺 THIS WEEK’S Assembly Update: I talk about a new bill I cosponsored, A5906A, to improve New York's food recycling and donation program. 🍏🥦 📊 One-third of all food in the United States goes uneaten, with the majority ending up in landfills or down the drain. 🗑️ This legislation aims to reduce food waste by redirecting usable food from landfills to those in need, cutting down harmful landfill gases, and saving money.💲 🍎 By expanding access to excess food for those in need, this bill helps address food insecurity, while also reducing costs for facilities with excess food production. 📉 💚 Let's make our state greener and more compassionate together! #FoodRecycling #Environment #CommunitySupport 🌱🌟

City to Sea's #EarthDay appeal with Big Give is now live! 🎉 Meaning every pound we receive over the next week, will be matched at no extra cost to you. Our rivers are crisis! Our reliance on single-use plastics is adding unnecessary strain to these already struggling ecosystems, with a shocking 80% of the ocean’s plastic pollution travelling via our rivers 😲 Now more than ever, we need your help to continue our vital campaigning work to help keep our rivers and oceans plastic-free. Recent Marine Conservation Society beach clean data shows more than 480,000 items of litter found on UK beaches - with drinks-related litter one of the most found! By donating to our Earth Day appeal, YOU can do something about this. For ONE WEEK ONLY, every pound will be matched – so your £25 becomes £50 to go towards powering our campaigns like Refill to help keep our rivers and oceans plastic-free. https://lnkd.in/eaRECQkF
