We are pleased to announce that #HMBLaw’s Gina Jacobs, who leads the Firm’s Workers’ Compensation department, has been selected as a 2025 Florida Office of Judges of Compensation Claims (OJCC) Certified Scholar under the auspices of judges led by the Honorable David Langham, Florida’s Deputy Chief Judge of Compensation Claims. The OJCC maintains the adjudication system for the resolution of disputed Workers’ Compensation claims. For Gina and her group of Workers’ Compensation professionals (pictured here), it will be an amazing opportunity to learn, share ideas, and collaborate as they accept the baton and commit to the future of the profession as emerging leaders. The group will graduate in April 2025 at the Florida Bar Workers’ Compensation Forum. #HMBLaw welcomes Thomas Glasson as a partner in the firm’s Miami office. Tom is a trial lawyer who focuses his practice in multiple areas including personal injury, motor vehicle negligence, wrongful death, premises liability, and commercial negligent security. He is a skilled litigator known for his zealous advocacy on behalf of his clients and his efficient and effective litigation strategies to meet their goals. Hailing from generations of judges and lawyers, Tom has known from a young age that his life and career would revolve around the law. For seventeen years, he was part of an outstanding firm specializing in insurance defense. He has tried cases for many of the largest insurance companies in the nation with great success. Tom attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois where he earned a B.A. in Political Science. He has worked for two Governors of the state, two US Congressmen and a state senator. Tom subsequently received his J.D. degree from the Southern Illinois University School of Law where he was a research and teaching assistant to the founding dean of the school. Chalk up another win for #HMBLaw. In this case, involving alleged injuries due to a fall on a wet pool deck, the Court concluded that the alleged hazard was inherent to the surroundings and Defendant had no reasonable opportunity to address any water issues before the fall.
