Community is a core value for me. When We Are For Good, Jon McCoy, CFRE, Becky Endicott, CFRE, Abby Fox call to bring the motto "Community is Everything" to life in a local activation, I had to join. A strong community aligns around common goals, shares skills, pools resources, and nurtures curiosity and passion, inspiring each other to achieve what might seem impossible alone. Something big launched for the impact sector - registration is open for #ImpactUp, an event brought to you by We Are For Good—my favorite impact community to learn, gather, and activate to make a positive shift in the world. CivicSpark Partner Applications Are Open Through June 7! bit.ly/civicsparkpartner Each year, CivicSpark recruits Fellows through a highly competitive application process. Fellows spend 11 months embedded in government agencies and community organizations, serving 1,400 hours implementing a needed sustainability and resilience project, while also building long-term capacity to ensure the work is sustained after their service year. According to an independent evaluation, organizations that participate in CivicSpark are 5 to 15 times more likely to achieve their project goals than organizations that don’t have a Fellow.

We are building Kyne to discover and embrace learning differences at the earliest possible age and create a world where the joy of reading empowers every child. 👉 In 2022 we had the idea but no particular plan. 👉In 2023 we had a proof-of-concept prototype and a detailed plan. 👉In 2024 we have made one massive step forward: I’m delighted to share that we have won an Innovate UK Unlocking Potential Award. Read more at: https://lnkd.in/eM_JAwCK #InnovateUKfunded #edtech #SETsquared WHY? ⚠ One in four children left primary school in 2022 unable to read to the required standard.   ⚠Only a little more than half (51%) of disadvantaged pupils reached the expected reading standard at Key Stage 1.  ⚠Nearly half (48%) of young offenders have a reading age below that of an 11-year-old.  ⚠57% of people entering the prison system have literacy skills lower than those expected of an 11-year-old. ⚠80% of dyslexic pupils leave school without a diagnosis A massive amount of time and effort goes into remediating literacy problems downstream - after the damage has been done. But instead of pulling kids out of the river, Kyne goes upstream and stops them from falling in. Once again, it's time to thank those of you who have helped so far - I am so sorry if I left you out! Hello LinkedIn Team, I don't usually post here, but I'm urging everyone to share this because I deeply believe in the impactful work being done. Let me share my experience with the remarkable individuals benefiting from these programs. I mentor someone who's on the brink of retiring from a city job after 25 years, without a college degree, yet they're putting their oldest child through college and embarking on their own journey towards higher education and a technical career. Balancing a full-time job, nurturing their children's educational aspirations, pursuing their own studies, and attending Emergent Works' Digital Literacy Program, they still make time for our weekly meetings, often with a spontaneous text asking, "Hey, Chris, is this a good time?" It's truly inspiring to collaborate with, mentor, and learn from such incredibly motivated individuals. The Future Foundation is a social group with many initiatives Our first is 6 Futures, a social start-up and media collective What is 6Futures? 6Futures is the media arm of The Future Foundation. Our goals involve: - collaboration with communities on social impact initiatives - education and tool-building for members - creating a space for new media What is Social Impact? Social impact refers to the effect or influence that an individual, organization, or initiative has on society, communities, or specific groups of people. It encompasses the positive change, improvements, or outcomes that result from actions aimed at addressing social issues, promoting equality, and making a difference in people's lives. Social impact goes beyond financial gains or profit and focuses on creating meaningful, sustainable change. It involves considering the long-term effects and implications of actions, evaluating the social and environmental costs and benefits, and working towards creating a more equitable and just society. What Resources Do We Provide? We are always growing, but currently, 6Futures gives members access to paid platforms for content creation Another aspect of 6Futures is our ongoing community initiatives. Project Africana is our first fully funded project, helping Black youth make content to inform their community These resources can be used by members for any reason, including projects that they work on, as members Is This Sustainable? Ever heard the saying 'smooth is fast'? We are a new group and want to build our infrastructure sustainably. How? We want to grow our membership until we can operate as a social enterprise, focused on public relations/content creation. A social enterprise is a business that is focused on making a positive social impact, while also making money. We want to be able to pay our members for their work and provide them with the resources they need to succeed. By working with other nonprofits and community groups to provide public relations, journalism and multimedia work, we can empower other groups that serve communities, grow our ranks and perfect our skills Excited by what we are building? check out more at www.6futures.org
