#Transdisciplinary works requires transdisciplinary understanding!
👷♀️As a researcher/architect working on #sustainability and #energyefficiency in the built environment, I was curious on learning more about the #regulations that form the basis of our work. For this reason, I received comprehensive training on #ISO #sustainabilitystandards in a practical way. This training helped me understand more clearly how the buzzwords we follow around are actually studied in detail. In this way, I think that I will be able to understand the standard codes that I refer to more clearly as a #LEED practitioner too.
👷♀️In my role, these ISO standards is not just a necessity but a strategic advantage. They enable me to understand the approaches of #design, #engineering and #business disciplines along with #policymakers perspective to solve complex challenges, and create meaningful impact for a more sustainable and resilient world.
These standards of 🍀Environmental Management Systems; #ISO14064 (Carbon footprint calculation), 👣 #ISO14067 (Carbon footprint of products), #ISO14040 (Life Cycle Assessment), 💦 #ISO14046, (Water footprint), and ⚡️Energy Management System #ISO50001, play a pivotal role in shaping the way we approach sustainability and environmental impact in our work.
🏛️What I can do is ISO 14067 #CarbonFootprintofProducts, ISO 14040 #LifeCycleAssessment, ISO 14046 #WaterFootprint standards for embedded carbon, ISO 14064 #Carbonfootprint calculation and ISO 50001 #EnergyManagementSystem for operational carbon. I will urgently try to integrate what I learned from the training into my work. This knowledge is invaluable in designing solutions that minimize environmental harm, maximize resource efficiency, to track progress towards #carbonneutrality and make informed decisions to reduce emissions. (Kindly check my certificates from my profile if you are interested!)
👩💻While working to minimize environmental, social and economic impact and for the protection and sustainable management of our resource; ISO's new publication of ISO 59004:2024 #CircularEconomy implementation guidance helped me further understand how right I was in this regard. Deficiencies in legislation and failure to follow a common framework generally cause sustainability to turn into a balloon floating in the air.
♻️By adopting this standard, organizations can:
-Deliver more sustainable and ambitious solutions.
-Improve relationships with stakeholders.
-Engage in more effective and efficient fulfillment of voluntary and legal obligations.
-Contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
-Increase resilience against resource scarcity and other environmental, social, and economic risks!
