August 1st, 2023, the #water year 2023/2024 starts. The Ministry of Water Resources & Irrigation worked during the previous water year 2022/2023 to meet the water needs of all sectors, achieve maximum benefit from every drop of water, and support #Egypt’s plan to achieve comprehensive and #sustainable development in various fields. #MWRI -Purifying 33,000 km of #canals and 22,000 km of #drains during the previous year, and coordinating with #agricultural sectors to purify private waterways. -Disinfection of 16,800 km of infected #canals before the period of maximum needs - Rehabilitation of (582) kilometers of canals in the centers of “#Hayah Karima” initiative, and work to #rehabilitate another (1,390) kilometers -Provision of (26) plots of land from the benefits of #irrigation with an area of 32,000 square meters to establish (30) service projects on it to serve the citizens of the centers of the “Hayah Karima” initiative. - Rehabilitation of (1580) Km of canals in various governorates, and work to rehabilitate another (3217) Km -Implementation of the covered #drainage within the control of 89,000 feddans, and the target is 60,000 feddans during the next year - A strategy for the transformation of #modern irrigation in sandy lands, sugar cane plantations and orchards, and a pilot pilot area on the Blucher canal in Aswan Work continues on the implementation of the project for the conveying of agricultural wastewater in the western delta for the water treatment plant in Al-Hamam -An essential project to develop the irrigation and #drainage system in #Siwa Oasis in cooperation with the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, the Faculty of Engineering at Cairo University and the people of Siwa Oasis. -Starting the implementation of the project to establish the new #Dairout Barrage to improve irrigation in the area of 1.60 million feddans in five governorates. - To strengthen the barrages of Zifta and Kafr Rabie, the bridges of Jamara and Amra bridges, the borders of Fom Al-Ismailia and Syracuse, and to secure the barrages of Damietta and Assiut. - Working on modernizing the operating systems of the lock and spillway of the Damietta Dam, the spillway of Esna, and the new Nagaa Hammadi barrages, maintaining the Edvina Barrages, strengthening the mouths of the canals taken from the Ibrahimia Canal, and studying the construction of the new Mouwes Bahr Barrage. -Preparing a database of all existing facilities on waterways, with a total of 50,000 water facilities -Work continues to implement protection facilities from the dangers of floods to protect citizens and facilities, and to harvest rainwater -Issuing the executive regulations of the new Water Resources and Irrigation Law to interpret the articles of the law -Distinguished efforts at the international level to raise the degree of interest in water issues and their relationship to climate change #AWARe #MWRI

Very ambitious program, but you forgot to include trans-boundary water in the Nile Basin! It is essential for Egypt to work and collaborate on water issue. Egypt, as a downstream country, cannot do it alone!

Please will the Egyptian ministry subsidize the installation of drip irrigation systems ? If yes for what rate and the procedures for farmers to get benefit.
