“More Kazakh investors are beginning to appreciate the benefits of diversification that ETFs offer. By investing in a basket of stocks or other securities, ETFs provide a way to spread risk across multiple assets, which is especially appealing in volatile market conditions. ETFs are also gaining popularity due to their generally lower costs and fees compared to actively managed mutual funds or frequent trading of individual stocks. This cost-efficiency makes them attractive to cost-conscious investors. While there is still a strong inclination toward individual stocks in Kazakhstan, particularly among experienced investors familiar with local markets, there is a noticeable shift towards ETFs driven by increasing awareness, regulatory support, and a desire for diversification and lower risk. As the local ETF market continues to develop, this trend is expected to grow further, especially among younger, digitally savvy investors,” said Serik Kozybayev, CEO of Branch of Investment House Astana-Invest in the AIFC.

Malaysia's ringgit has historically been known as a commodity currency, linked to prices for palm oil and hydrocarbons. However, using data from our partners at EPFR, we can see that international asset allocation to Malaysian equity funds is having a significant impact on the currency. Our chart shows how the ringgit's strongest recent moments against the dollar lately coincide with particularly large net flows into Malaysian equities. #stockmarkettoday (GSE) "NewGold ETF Advances to GHS305.98/Unit" At the end yesterday's trading session on the local bourse, the non-indexed and only listed ETF "NewGold ETF" surged to a record GHS305.98/unit. The ETF has attracted significant attention since the beginning of the year as gold prices on the global commodities rally to record highs. NewGold ETF's counter has been one of the busiest on the local bourse this year, averaging some millions of turnover per session. Buy-side pressures have pushed the price ~40% higher year-to-date. An interesting fact to note is that about 10 years ago, the ETF was trading at around GHS23.00/unit. Simple math allows us to estimate approximately a 1,230% increase over the 10-year period on a nominal capital gains basis. "The first two exchange-traded funds in China that invest solely in Saudi Arabia's equities market have met with strong initial demand even before being formally listed, raising over Rmb1.2 billion (US$172 million) collectively. The China Southern Fund Management CSOP Saudi Arabia ETF QDII Fund attracted around Rmb634 million from 14,253 investors during its initial fundraising period between June 24 and July 2, according to the fund's listing documents published on July 5. Meanwhile, the Huatai-PineBridge CSOP Saudi Arabia ETF QDII Fund secured around Rmb590 million from 7,665 subscribers during the same period, according to the fund's listing documents. Neither fund firm has confirmed when the two Saudi Arabia-equities ETFs will be listed on one of the country's two major local stock exchanges in Shanghai or Shenzhen. At a time when Chinese investors have been rushing into qualified domestic institutional investors funds, which are permitted to invest in offshore markets, the two Saudi-focused ETFs have already raised more money than any other QDII fund launched this year." #ignitesasia
