If you are planning on evaluating the impact of you higher education access, success or progression work this resource may be helpful. A few years ago, I developed the Evaluation Plan for the Aimhigher widening participation programme (NCOP). The methods were developed for access evaluations but can be applied to post entry work. This plan was cited by the Office for Students as sector leading and heavily cited in their guidance. The full evaluation plan may be useful to those working on Access and Participation Plans, the TEF or colleagues working in schools/colleges or third sector providers. You can access it via a web search 👇: https://lnkd.in/eJhfWHhJ #highereducation #schools #education #evaluation #research #wideningparticipation

Program evaluation is a cornerstone of our work at DIBS. Our recently-completed five year program evaluation by Category One Consulting is now available (link below). We agree with the teacher who stated "There is no better way for kids to get better at reading, than to read! A new book every day makes reading fun and exciting!" We learned: 🎯 DIBS students saw significantly greater increases in reading achievement and were more likely to meet expected reading growth goals than control group students 🎯 When students checked out 80 or more books during the school year, those students had ever larger score increases and even more likely to meet expected growth goals 🎯 Analyses indicate students with consistent DIBS participation from kindergarten through third grade could increase their reading ability by the equivalent of one full grade level relative to non-DIBS students. Read more here: https://shorturl.at/PFSBH The power of delivering infinite book shelves is immense - and we are so proud of our DIBS students, teachers, and families. "Does it work?" is the question that drives almost all my work. Now, five years of data later, unequivocally, DIBS works. We saw: ⬆ improved reading scores as compared to a control cohort ⬆ increased engagement in reading ⬆ incredible qualitative feedback from teachers, families, and students Most importantly, this all reflects the hard work of our staff in bringing access to books to students who otherwise may not have such access. Access to books ➡ more time spent reading ➡ more practicing reading skills ➡ improved literacy outcomes. We have some big ideas for the future to continue to improve access to books - because "does it work" always means thinking of the next thing to bring reading success for all students.

The NECO Common Entrance exam has been rescheduled due to insufficient enrollment. The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the postponement of the Common Entrance exam and the entrance examination for Gifted and Talented Children into the Federal Government Academy, Suleja. Originally scheduled for May 4, 2024, the entrance exam for the Federal Government Academy will now take place on May 25, 2024. According to NECO spokesman, Azeez Sani, the decision to reschedule both examinations stems from the low number of candidates enrolled. Sani emphasized the importance for all concerned parties, including candidates, parents, guardians, schools, and other stakeholders, to take note of the new examination dates. This adjustment underscores the challenges educational institutions sometimes face in ensuring sufficient participation in standardized assessments. It also highlights the significance of effective communication to ensure that all relevant parties are informed and prepared for such changes. As candidates and their supporters adapt to the new schedule, NECO aims to uphold the integrity and fairness of the examination process.
