Empowering Law Firm Owners To Build Firms That Earn More While Working Less. Access Over 4,000 Years of Expert Experience. Ask Me How!
Aloha! Happy Friday!😁🥳 I love the work that I do, but has been a busy week. I am glad Friday has arrived. On Friday, I like to wear Hawaiian shirts. This one is actually from Hawaii. Since my mom lives on Molokai, she sends me “aloha shirts” occasionally. Hawaii is a very different place; I would not want to live there long-term. However, one thing I love about Hawaii is their culture. You quickly learn Hawaiian words like “mahalo”. Many people only say aloha instead of hello or goodbye. The spirit of the Hawaiian culture is very proudly displayed on the islands. Building culture takes intentionality, work, and consistency. Unique language helps solidify that culture. How is the culture at your law firm? Is the culture unique to your values? Or is it just another place to work?

📸 Captured another gem at Buc-ee's Building a phenomenal culture starts right from the moment you step foot in the parking lot. What message does it send to potential talent when they see signs like "we care," "we've got your back," and "why wouldn't you want to work for an amazing company that values your and compensation?" Culture is all about being transparent and trustworthy in what your brand stands for. If you claim to be a family-oriented organization, you better live up to that promise as a guiding principle. If you boast about having the world's cleanest bathrooms, I better not find a cleaner one anywhere else on this planet! Where many organizations stumble is thinking that the words on the walls or the principles framed at the exit are enough to cultivate a collective purpose. False! It's the ability to consistently live up to those words that truly makes a difference. #OrganizationalCulture #Transparency #Trust #CollectivePurpose #Buccees #ExceptionalWorkplace #dreambig

🥃🏴 Embracing Your Whole Identity in the Workplace 🏴🥃 On this Burns Night, let us raise a toast to the celebration of our rich cultural heritage and the importance of embracing our whole identity in the workplace. As we honor the legendary poet Robert Burns, we are reminded of his profound words, "Freedom and whisky gang together." In today's diverse and inclusive world, it is crucial to recognize and appreciate the unique backgrounds, traditions, and perspectives that each individual brings to the table. By embracing our whole identity, we not only foster a sense of belonging but also unlock the true potential of collaboration and innovation. Just as whisky symbolizes the spirit of freedom, let us break down barriers and create an environment where everyone feels empowered to be their authentic selves. By doing so, we can harness the collective strength of our diverse workforce and drive positive change. So, let us raise our glasses to Burns Night, a celebration of our heritage, and a reminder that embracing our whole identity in the workplace is not only a source of strength but also a catalyst for success. Cheers to the freedom to be ourselves and the power of unity! #BurnsNight #EmbraceYourIdentity #DiversityAndInclusion #WorkplaceCulture

Let’s rise above toxicity in the workplace and champion a culture of passion and kindness. Regardless of our rank or position, we are all in this journey together. Choose to be a beacon of support and inspiration, not the source of someone’s stress or anxiety. Avoid being the reason a colleague feels unmotivated, burned out, or isolated. Remember, our words and actions have the power to either uplift or diminish someone’s self-confidence. Let’s commit to fostering a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to grow in their careers. We all carry unseen burdens, and the world outside is challenging enough. Let’s make our workplaces a haven of kindness and positivity, where we lift each other up and thrive together.

There's a good point here about happiness coming and going, but still, the replacement comes with the language of “having / not having meaning” or “lack of meaning” as something that you can acquire as long as you work on these X number of steps. Perhaps “making meaning” and, to be fair, the once mentioned: “seek meaning” could be a better way to look at this. I would suggest only one step: create space and opportunity to make meaning with yourself and others. It might make you happier. 😁 #workingwithstories #tedtalk

A moment of Nature’s wisdom Today, I had an unexpected moment of joy and insight. A majestic peacock fearlessly approached and gently picked grains from my hand. This simple interaction teaches us principles we should cherish in our professional and personal lives. The peacock's fearlessness in approaching a human with trust is a lesson in embracing new opportunities and challenges with an open mind and heart. In our professional journeys, this translates to stepping out of our comfort zones and exploring new horizons with confidence as I have done in past 3 decades. Just as the peacock connected with me over a handful of grains, we too should seek to build meaningful connections in our workplaces. Whether it's a thoughtful conversation with a colleague or a collaborative project across departments, these interactions enrich our professional experience. The peacock's vibrant feathers remind us of the beauty in diversity. Each one of us, with our unique skills and backgrounds, contributes in our own ways to work environments. Recognizing and valuing this diversity is key to an inclusive workplace. This moment was also a reminder to appreciate the simple joys of life. Amidst our busy schedules and deadlines, let's not forget to pause, reflect, and find happiness in the little things. As we step into 2024, I encourage each one of you to look for your ‘peacock moment.’ It could be a brief, mindful pause during your day, a conversation with someone from a different department or background, or simply appreciating the diverse talents in your team. Let's try to create a work environment where we not only achieve our goals but also nurture an atmosphere of understanding, respect and appreciation. P.S. Still waiting for my feathers to grow so I can be as majestic as my new peacock friend. #leadership #mindfulness #inspiration #workplaceculture

Emily Esfahani Smith reminds us that life is more than just happiness; it's about finding meaning through belonging, purpose, transcendence, and storytelling. For me, her perspective aligns with the philosophy of Ikigai, a Japanese concept of finding purpose and fulfilment in life. Check out her inspiring Ted Talk for a thought-provoking start to your week! #meaningfulmonday #tedtalks
