Take note of employee trends, especially: - Education levels - Previous roles/experiences (especially the job they came from before their current one) - Extracurricular activities/experiences No companies employees are all the same, but hiring managers are just like everyone when it comes to decision making - they are heavily drawn to what has worked in the past! Doing this exercise will help you accurately measure the likelihood of you being able to work in that position. It will also help you understand what level your entry point into that company would likely be. You might discover that you are a great fit right now. YAY! You might discover what job you need to get now in order be a great fit in the future. I get asked a lot by people, what’s the biggest thing that’s held you back in building a business?    And I would always say being totally rubbish at shouting about the fact I am really good at what I do.   I always thought that if I just got on and was just really awesome at recruitment then everybody would somehow know that 😂   Looking back this is nonsense. It’s a big wide world out there with lots of other people in it who are also really good at what they do as well. So if you want to get on you’ve got to shout really really loudly about it.    You can apply this to work and getting a promotion or a new job. If people don’t know you are the best at something then they aren’t gonna come to you. You have to be known to be the best at it as well.    So get out your megaphone 📢 and shout.    You’re not being arrogant or showing off, it’s about letting the world know your awesome at something, you’re an expert, top tier, elite.   That’s something to be proud about, not hidden away under a rock 🐔 #fmcg #hiring #culture #hiring

Taking a moment to pause this morning before diving back into my job search. Reflecting on my journey, I've navigated through various roles after losing my Talent Acquisition position in March 2020 due to the pandemic. Initially seeking a role in Recruitment proved challenging, as the market was at a standstill.  Adapting to the circumstances, I embraced a new role as an Executive Assistant to a COO, a position that was new to me but turned out to be an enlightening experience. Transitioning from a Recruiter to an EA was a significant shift. Collaborating closely with the COO, we embarked on a journey of mutual learning and growth, delving into different aspects of the business. Embracing the philosophy of lifelong learning, I seized the opportunity to support the VP of Sales in building infrastructure for a rapidly growing company. Despite the unforeseen market changes, the journey was rewarding, filled with valuable experiences that shaped my professional growth. Contemplating my next steps, whether to continue as an EA or return to recruitment poses a nuanced question. Supporting great executives has been rewarding and the essence of Talent Acquisition remains close to my heart, yet the experience gained over the past 4 years could lead me towards an HR Business Partner role. Ultimately, the right opportunity will come down to fit. Embracing change and growth, I look forward to the opportunities ahead.
