How a thankful mindset enhances overall well-being. It's all too easy to focus on the things we don't have. As human beings, we're hardwired always to be striving toward the next goal or milestone, leaving little time to stop and take stock of all that's already good in our lives. However, there's science to suggest that taking regular, intentional time to pause and reflect on everything we're grateful for is incredibly beneficial. "Gratitude is the practice of being thankful or taking time to think about what you are appreciative of in your life," explains Ernesto Lira de la Rosa, licensed clinical psychologist and media advisor at the Hope for Depression Research Foundation. Practicing gratitude requires us to slow down and reflect on the good in our lives, which Lira de la Rosa says can offer plenty of health benefits. "Research shows that those who practice gratitude have lower levels of stress and anxiety," he explains. "Gratitude can also help us feel more connected to ourselves and others and help us take a different perspective."

Empowering health & wellness brands: Crafting contents to engage with their target audience by using blog-posts and articles•Health content writer & marketer•Holistic health & Advocacy
A friend once asked me; Babara, why do you write?' For a moment, I was taken aback. I did not have an immediate answer. I promised to ponder over it, and indeed, I spent the entire night reflecting. As I thought deeply, one memory, in particular, stood out vividly. It was about my childhood friend, let's call her Sola. Sola struggled with persistent boils on her armpits, face, and sometimes in intimate areas. They seemed to appear without warning, disrupting her life and shattering her self-confidence. Initially, I attributed her condition to poor hygiene, but a weekend spent at her house put a stop to that assumption. Sola's mother was a stickler for cleanliness, yet the boils persisted. It was then that I realized something was amiss. When puberty hit, Sola's condition worsened. She became a target for cruel taunts and hurtful nicknames, which had a hit on her self-esteem. She withdrew from social activities, concealing herself in layers of clothing and drowning her insecurities in perfumes. Sola's happy place was a perfume store. Nursing school made me to understand that behind every mysterious symptom, there is a scientific explanation waiting to be uncovered. I thought of Sola instantly. Empowered with this new knowledge, I urged her to seek medical attention. It took a while but she finally went. After series of tests and hospital visits, she was diagnosed with HIDRADENITIS SUPPURATIVA. A chronic skin condition characterized by painful lumps, abscesses, and tunnels that develop primarily in areas where skin rubs together, such as the armpits, groin, and buttocks. So, WHY DO I WRITE? I write to break down complex health topics into easily understandable concepts without sacrificing essential information. I write to highlight overlooked health issues that affect the everyday person. For me, it is not just about the excitement of writing for health brands or amassing followers. It is about the satisfaction of reaching and educating the average person. Partnering with health brands to create blog posts, that use simple language to educate their readers brings me immense joy. People like Sola, and countless others facing similar challenges, are the reason I pick up my pen or keyboard. They inspire me to write. This is why I write." #Inspiration #HealthWriting #communitysupport #linkedin
