I don’t usually post personal things on LinkedIn, but today, as I celebrate Canada Day, I find myself reflecting on this incredible country’s past, present, and future, as well as my family’s place in it. Not many people know this, but I was not born in Canada. My parents immigrated to Canada when I was young, and I watched them make countless sacrifices and work long hours in odd jobs just to get our family by. They did this because they believed in the Canadian dream. I am a living embodiment of that dream. The level of social mobility I have experienced within my relatively short lifetime would have been impossible anywhere else. Regardless of whether someone immigrated 20 years ago or 200, the dream has always been the same. For millions of people, both in-country and abroad, Canada is a beacon of hope—hope for a just and free society, and hope that no matter who you are and where you come from, a better future is possible.  I recognize that Canada is not perfect. Like many countries, it has a complex history full of injustice and tragedy. However, we, as a society, have recognized these mistakes and are actively working to do better. Canada has made tremendous progress, and that is the true hallmark of any great nation. I love Canada, but I am also concerned for its future. The freedom and democracy we often take for granted were hard-fought and, if not protected, can easily be lost. The Canadian dream is becoming increasingly out of reach. The values and unity that made this country great are slowly eroding. Nevertheless, like my parents, and generations of Canadians before them, I have hope that a better future is possible. With that, I would like to wish my network a joyful Canada Day and a happy birthday to the greatest country in the world!

This time last year, we had just returned from our year abroad living and working in Europe. Today, as we celebrate Canada Day, I find myself in a reflective mood, thinking about how much has changed and what's to come. Last year, Canada Day was about celebrating coming home and reuniting with our creature comforts: friends, family, sushi (!), the forest, grocery stores we knew the layout of on the back of our hands. This year, it's an inflection point—a moment to reflect on where I've been and where I want to go. The past 12 months since we landed back in Canada have given me a new perspective on the value of our "Adventure Year." It was a time of immense learning and growth, teaching me the delicate balance between adventure and routine. I've realized that too much of one thing can lead to a craving for the other. Too much adventure? We crave comfort and routine. Too much comfort and routine? We crave adventure and novelty. In this duality, there is no destination. Only a dance. As we enter the back half of the year, I'm reflecting on what I've created in my business and life so far, and what I aspire to build in the next 6-12 months. Sometimes, time and distance provide the clarity we lack when we're too close to something. And it's this ongoing dance of dualities that I hope to embrace more fully this year. → Change and Acceptance → Adventure and Routine → Work and Rest → Strength and Vulnerability → Independence and Connection Canada Day can mean many things to many people. Today, for me, it signifies reflection and celebration. If it does to you too, in 1 or 2 words, what do you hope to embrace more fully this year? P.S. In case you were wondering, yes, I LOVE Caesars and will definitely be enjoying one today. I’m also craving poutine, so that's on the agenda too. 😉

I have lived in Canada for 10+ years. Here are 7 reasons why I absolutely love Canada 🍁 1. Inclusive Culture: Canada embraces diversity. No matter where you are from Canada will accept you as its own. 2. Breathtaking Landscapes: Canada is beautiful and clean. I just cannot get enough of Canada 3. Warmth in the Cold: Beyond the winter chill, there's a warmth in the Canadian spirit. The kindness and friendliness of the people make every frosty day a little brighter. 4. Safety & Security: Feeling safe is a priceless gift. Canada's commitment to security and the rule of law provides a foundation for a peaceful and thriving community. 5. Healthcare System: This is a bit controversial. But come on it's still free and they are trying to fix it. 6. Love the Canadian Seasons: I know some people complain about the cold but hey not all of Canada is a snow land. And you get to enjoy the summer barbeque and the winter skiing. 7. Canadian Politeness: The list would not be complete without this. "Sorry" is practically a national anthem! The politeness and courtesy of Canadians create an atmosphere of respect that I've come to appreciate more and more. . . . My short story : I was talking to a friend at an airport while coming back to Canada this Sunday on how I reconsidered my offer to get hired permanently at Air Canada. The lady beside us asked, I was listening to your conversation and wondering, is it easy for you to transition to new challenges? unknown work culture in new county? Do you fear any of it? Both of us were spellbound with the question at instance.. I stopped.. thought in retrospect and answered - Off course I fear; Fear of fitting in, representing so many people in second language. Leaving my country was the much deeper thoughtful choice I made, probably the toughest one. It is unfair to the decision if fear of unknowns hold you back? Isn’t it? She replied - Wow, ‘I never really looked it that way’ this were her exact words. How do you overcome those fear she asked? Well, Being Truthful to one’s self is important. Do not hesitate to ask for help, and help whenever you can. Practicing genuine gratitude is such a liberating experience. Maybe such small conversations opens so many horizons which one might not have given a thought.
