Get involved! One thing we all have in common is education. We have all been impacted by it one way or another, many of you may have even attended schools right here in Central Florida. Junior Achievement of Central Florida gives you a prime opportunity to volunteer and get back into those classrooms and make an impact! I'll be the first to say that I do not remember all of those assignments that were completed and tests that were studied for in high school. With that being said, I do remember those unique experiences where people came in for presentations or career days. It was always so exciting to hear different perspectives and understand that there are so many things you can do if you keep working hard. If you have a desire to give back and get involved here locally, give me a shout! #Education #AlwaysLearning #Volunteering #GiveBack #Leadership
Meet Zach Dagneau, member of The Junior Achievement Leadership Council. Zach has been with KI for eight years after joining the team straight out of college at their headquarters in Green Bay, WI. He now oversees Central Florida collaborating with clients to help spark inspiration for their learning and work environments. Zach has volunteered as a Business Coach for JA’s 3DE students at Ocoee High School. He also plays a vital role in connecting with young professionals in the community to engage them as new members of the Leadership Council: “Being involved in the JALC has been a very rewarding experience. Outside of the fulfillment earned through supporting JA’s mission and initiatives, it is great to be surrounded by a group of diverse individuals with like-minded goals. As a young professional, it’s exciting to know I have found an organization that has helped me build both my personal and professional brand.”

Most Black professionals are over-mentored but under-sponsored. Since 2021, many black professionals have revealed this instance where companies host a slew of mentorship programs, but does a mentor have influence? Sometimes they do, but not always. We need sponsors! In my career I’ve relied and found comfort in the casual relationships with mentors but realized that sponsors held the keys, they had the ears of leadership and can truly catapult your career. A mentor helps unblock me from certain situations, they can be thought partners, allies, etc. However, a sponsor will take me to the next level. In participating in company mentorship programs do more than just seek a mentor - FIND YOUR SPONSOR

Annually, the Hispanic Collaborative and the African American Leadership Alliance of Milwaukee (AALAM) publish Well-Being Indexes that offer a comparative view of how Milwaukee’s Black and Brown communities are progressing compared to peer metros. The indexes show that while progress is being made, we need to pick up the pace. Cross-sector collaboration, meaning a true shared vision and responsibility, is required to address our issues at scale to create a stronger Milwaukee region.
