What a great session yesterday from April Dunford, on Sales Pitch, part of Dan Olsen meetups. My main takeaways: Be a guide and not a salesperson - > don't throw a list of features to your buyers, instead tell them how you see the market, what options they have available (including your competitors) and the value they will receive from you. Ensure the value you present is the one that set you apart. You might ask yourself what a product manager have to do with Sales Pitch, and the answer is.... everything. * Product Managers strive to solve a customer pain with their products, so they should be part of the discussion to ensure they solve a valid problem. * Product Managers should focus their attention first to competitors that appears in sales opportunities. * Product Managers should be heavily involved on defining positioning - alongside Marketing and sales * As professionals, we also pitch ourselves - a lot can be transfer in the way we pitch ourselves.

A couple of weeks back, I had the chance to see a very well run event and hear from leaders at 20SALES as they talked about real tactical steps for GTM and Marketing+Sales alignment. Very fun to meet Lauren Schwartz, Kim Graves, Liat Bycel, Cristina Cordova, and catch up with Stevie Case before she travels across the world. What made it a superb event? Right size. ~75 to 100 people. Great venue. The Battery, SF. It's unique, great location, and helped set the stage (so to speak) for a great event. With all the competing events and travel schedules and personal time, events need to take you somewhere special to standout. Or somewhere hidden in your own city. Right schedule. Cocktails, networking, great moderated session with no fluff and sharp answers. Moderator mixed up the questions and got to the actual solutions, numbers, benchmarks and let the experts share their learnings and reflections building the first GTM teams and sprinting up to $100M+ ARR. When the session started, they asked for no cameras and no recording so that speakers could talk freely. #GTM #eventplanning #event #conference

The greatest thing about tech today is that you can almost work anywhere. But if you choose to – beware! Stuff might throw you for a loop. You could end up in a riding lawn mower’s path (twice) in the middle of a live webinar 😮😅 But the show must go on! (And it did!!) When you’re prepared, practiced, and have a great team with you, you can do so much from so many great places. You can turn any interruption into what Derek Pollard, PhD calls “a teachable moment.” #BeYourOwnLoud #AdvisorMarketing #ContentMarketing
What does dedication to the team look like? Here's the Buddha of Sarnia, ProudMouth co-founder Matt Halloran, prepping for the webinar he and Jessica Brown led on July 25. Knowing we weren't going to make it over the bridge back to the U.S. prior to the 2pm start time, Matt and I quickly scouted the area and found the Blue Water River Walk, which is where Matt plunked down and co-hosted the webinar along with Jessica. From what I could make out as I strolled the walkway, things went exceptionally well — even when the riding mower drove by within 25 feet of where Matt was sitting! Talk about a lesson in poise under pressure! Here's the best part — instead of getting flustered or upset, Matt actually brought the interruption into the conversation, turning it into a talking point and teachable moment. The truth is, we all face the unexpected — especially when it comes to co-hosting virtual events in public spaces! So, what's one of your "lawn mower" stories?
