Co-author Judith Symonds and I are pleased to release today A New Paradigm for the Common Good, a 2024 report based on the results of a ground-breaking survey – the first of its kind on the subject – conducted by the Pursuit of the Common Good (PCG) initiative with more than 50 experts from 21 countries around the world on their perceptions of the common good and philanthropy.    Undertaken as part of Alliance magazine’s special feature on the common good in their June 2024 issue, the questions the research team has been exploring are critical ones: Of the many global crises we face, which do you address first? And how do you deal with the complexity each one of them poses? Is philanthropy helping, or does it need a redesign? Does it indeed pursue the common good?    Survey responses showed a growing understanding that there needs to be a broadening of the common good to embrace inclusivity and interdependence, both among humans and as part of a larger ecosystem with nature. They also revealed the unique and transformational role that only philanthropy can play to shift the paradigm to a new framework for the common good. It has succeeded in creating a safe space where individuals can freely express their concerns and experiences. Through this process, the group has built strong relationships and trust among its members, uniting different coalitions to form a cohesive and powerful collective voice. The overarching goals of CEJ are transformative: shifting from unawareness of habitual patterns that perpetuate inequalities to a state of awareness and agency for change; moving from transactional interactions to relational connections; evolving from token representation to authentic shared power and leadership; transitioning from a "helping" or "charity" mindset to embodied solidarity; and ultimately, progressing from merely discussing equity to embodying it both as individual organizations and as a united community."

'𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁’ is critical for genuine impact. Raintree Foundation has been focusing on community-driven #climateaction since its inception and we strongly believe that #communities are the real '𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲'. While we address the immediate stressors of the nature and communities, true impact can only be brought about by addressing the underlying core issues and bringing about a systemic change and generational mindset shift. And, this fundamental transformation can only be achieved if we '𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿’ with communities and not perceive them as beneficiaries. With this school of thought, our Founder, Leena Dandekar and Global CEO, Kiran Vernekar, will be participating at the #PhileaForum2024. The three-day convention will explore practical strategies for enhancing both trust in philanthropy, and philanthropy’s role in building trust in democracy, in institutions, and between generations. Our mission: We are working with national and regional stakeholders as well as European and global ecosystem builders to implement a systemic change that will get us closer to our ultimate goal – so that CEE citizens live, invest and do business in a sustainable and impact-oriented way. One of the ways to get there is to grow awareness among leaders from public and private sector and build a culture of responsibility and giving among children and youth.
