Pikes Peak is one of the worst displays of motorsport in the world... For spectators, 12.4 miles for high speed, high adrenaline and high downforce rocket ships to drive on and you can only stand in 2 places along the entire hill. The pits or devil's playground. But don't get me wrong, Pikes Peak still remains for me the one last true expression for manufacturers and private teams to push limits, where rule books are tossed and lines blurred. The words 'normal' and 'functional' don't appear in the dictionaries of its undertakers. I will admit, I cannot sit through an entire F1 race but when I watch the hill climb it is something else. I'm not sure if it's the high stakes, the weird and wonderful machines or the bravery of the drivers but it is definitely my favourite motorsport event of the year.
