The 'tightening' of the connections between the physical, social, natural and digital in our public places and spaces is intense. And as city shapers, placemakers, product designers, technologists and asset custodians, it is our responsibility to ensure the qualities we love in the public realm are not just managed, but enhanced. This was my message at the Parks and Leisure Australia Vic/Tas Region conference yesterday in Melbourne. I think we are doing a good job with the 'now', but our 'heads-up display' on the 'next' for the public realm is not yet fine tuned. // Professions remain in silo's and many seem ok with this - it's not. // Tech solutions viewed as the responsibility of the IT department - it's not. // Digital connectivity is 'invisible' - it's not. // Single function/use infrastructure seems fine - it's not. Yes, there are nuances to each of these statements, but my point is we all have the responsibility to understand where the pressure points are (now and next) for our public places and spaces, and proactively engage. HUB Australasia Pty Ltd congrats everyone involved in such a stella conference - Hats off to PLA staff led by Dan Ferguson and the Council Executive Team led by Rachel Thorpe. #place #infrastructure #digital

A compelling article on the influence of work dynamics on the property market. It is,in my view, an opportunity not necessarily a challenge for commercial property owners to align with evolving work cultures. Exploring the ramifications of hybrid and remote work on the environment could also offer valuable insights. Overall a good read.

Well done to the team behind the new Partnership for Miami report which benchmarks Miami against peer cities and takes an honest and practical view of the current issues - including being the most unaffordable place to live in the US - and opportunities. See: https://lnkd.in/gT7cRDPn Many cities and regions in Australia are facing similar issues and it is good to see the report prioritising 'Affordability and Livability' as a key theme in Miami's strategic direction. Here on Australia's Sunshine Coast, we are already seeing businesses - from hospitality to the next big thing in tech - having issues attracting and retaining talented staff who can afford to live here with house prices increasing by 72% in just 4 years.

Very interesting insights from our friends at CBRE on office space relevance. Since the ugly days of COVID-19, we on the financing side have been running away from office space like the boogey-man. Is it perhaps time to get excited about this asset-class again???

Working from Canary Wharf today! Six years in London already - time flies when you're navigating the hustle and bustle of this vibrant city. As an immigrant from Sacramento, a small town in Brazil, the transition to London life has been nothing short of thrilling. From the serene streets of my hometown to the bustling metropolis of London, it's been a fast-paced journey. Living in cities like Rio, São Paulo, Toronto, and Florence certainly prepared me for urban life, but London's unique blend of modernity and tradition never fails to captivate me. There's something about the way this city seamlessly integrates the old with the new that keeps me constantly inspired. Now, about my workspace preferences... Anyone else find cafes and coworking spaces oddly helpful for productivity? Call me crazy, but there's something about the buzz of activity around me that helps me focus. Maybe it's the constant movement that mirrors my own restless mind. 😅 And let's not forget the networking opportunities! Moving around keeps me on my feet and opens doors to new connections. After all, they say variety is the spice of life, right? So, what's your preference - the tranquility of a quiet room or the vibrant energy of coworking spaces and cafes? Let's chat! #LondonLife #EntrepreneurLife #ImmigrantExperience #WorkAnywhere #BusyBee
