The power of fried dough! 🎉
For the first year (of hopefully many), my husband, Dave was the talent booker and production consultant for the Lilac Festival, a 10-day art and music Festival here in Rochester. 🌸
At one point during Trousdale’s performance last night, their love for fried dough came up (along with the question of the name. Is it “fried dough” or an “elephant ear?”)
Dave was watching the performance with me at that moment and immediately left to procure this festival delicacy.
That’s him in the photo, handing it out to the band. They were delighted, the audience was delighted, Dave was delighted.
When we take a moment to notice something small about someone, perhaps it’s a hobby, a food, a band, anything that brings them joy and make a choice to connect with them over it, everyone wins.
They feel seen, appreciated, and cared for, connection is built over being humans vs. being our jobs.
We get the warm fuzzies of doing something nice for someone.
Those around get to enjoy seeing the joy that we can bring out in others.
Small acts of kindness being a good thing is not a revolutionary thought 😁
I hope this is a remind for this week though. 😎
Two questions for you today:
1. What might you notice in someone else? How might you connect with them over this and show them that they are seen and appreciated?
2. Is it called “fried dough” or an “elephant ear?”
