🌱 When designing supplemental greenhouse lighting or indoor facility lighting, one crucial factor to consider is the target average PPFD (photosynthetic photon flux density). As a lighting salesperson, I often emphasize that you can always dim down but can’t easily increase PPFD later. Who wants to reshuffle fixtures when more light is needed? 🌞 🌿 There are several factors to weigh, including HVAC and dehumidification capacity, CO2 enrichment, dissolved oxygen via Nanobubbles, nutrient delivery efficacy, and precision. However, it’s essential to recognize that increased PPFD correlates with higher output (yield). I am proud to share my new collaboration with Mohammad Tavakkoli Yaraki, Ph.D. Macquarie University. A year ago, our casual chat about photocatalysts let us to the idea of NIR-activated photocatalysts. This research focused on CdSe nanoflower as a new near-infrared activated photocatalyst with antibacterial properties which is suitable for pharmaceutical wastewater treatment. The results of our inquiry have been disseminated in the esteemed journal Materials Today Sustainability. This accomplishment reflects the unwavering dedication and industriousness exhibited by every member of our collaborative team (Hoda Pasdar).
