A piece of West Des Moines history came tumbling down this week. 🏚️ The 130-year-old building that housed The Longest Yard sports bar in Valley Junction is no more. As I watched the demolition, I couldn't help but feel a mix of nostalgia and excitement for what's to come. For decades, this spot was a gathering place for sports fans, a hub of community spirit, and a landmark in our evolving cityscape. Another Church being targeted as potential for demolition, with active pitching for multi residential development. This Sanctuary is truly beautiful, and should be preserved. Should the City of Vancouver and the provincial government not step in with low cost subsidies and heritage preservation, which, when designed thoughtfully and sensitively will keep the church building as part of the development. I have done so in another project and it can be done. “The real estate firm is pitching the property, located at 4397 West 12th Ave., as a large multiplex development opportunity.
